The deaths were largely baked in by the third week of March and after that their curve was managed. NY was a tragedy. Blindsided in some ways, paired with a false confidence that the virus wasn’t there when it was. And then throw that into a powder keg of a subway system. Transit use was so low by April that while it might have continued to cause spread until it was cleaned, it wasn’t enough to actually raise cases, which started falling by late March and were driven very low through today. My biggest hang up with the praise is it isn’t clear to me how much the virus just burned out there vs them driving it down.

OK, NY has basically stayed shut down to this point. They still haven't reopened indoors such as restaurants, bars, movie theaters and malls. There's no trick to keeping your C19 numbers low if you force everyone to hide under their bed. The trick is how to live a halfway normal life and keep this under control. It's far too soon to say that NY has accomplished this. It's obvious that if Fauci had his way everyone would be confined to house arrest until a vaccine comes out. That's nuts.

The nursing home fiasco was a tragedy and that's all on Cuomo.

I guess I just believe he lies less often than Trump or Biden. Of course he could only lie 95% of the time and be less so it’s a pretty low bar.

It's a world where Trumo tweeting mean things is worse than Cuomo being behind regulations that sent sick back to the nursing homes.

Talked with the science teacher at my school today. She’s wondering if the virus burnt itself out in Europe and NY.
