Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Well I make the assumption that mandated mask wearing produces more mask usage than non mandated times. So weeks into mandated mask use we should begin to see improvement in numbers.
You would also likely see a change regardless of mask usage. Even when you do nothing viruses tend to either infect more people or fewer. Consistency is not in its nature. I guess that would be the one way to see, if we "flatten the curve" so it holds that would say it's working. A decrease could just be the natural progression.

The spread to smaller areas also fits historic trends going back to at least the bubonic plague. The big cities were hit first, and then largely after their peaks would the small areas get hit. Diseases need room to expand, once they have gone thru and area they expand. So I wouldnt read into this too much of one area doing something right, and another wrong. This all seems pretty natural at this point.

The real irony here is that the longer this pandemic is prolonged, the slower the economic recovery will be. Trump clearly needs the economy to be roaring back heading into the election season.

Instead of capitulating that something so innocuous as wearing a mask could be helpful, you grouse about your "freedom". If Trumps nut-huggers had a lick of sense you'd be urging your fellow red-hats to put on a mask. You guys are your own worst enemy's and don't even realize it.
And freedom allows that.

With you big government nut huggers (which in this case Trumps sits in the biggest government chair so....) not realizing that basic fact.

They reject the best possible thing we can do to open the economy in the name of personal freedom and blame everyone else.
No we reject the mandate, which takes away freedom. Not the act itself. I havent seen an argument from most of us that stores cant require it. Apparently that is too fine a point for you to grasp.

You dont get more freedom by taking away freedom. From someone whjust acknowledged the Patriot Act as a bad thing you should realize that.

Oh I agree. A positive trend may not mean the masks worked. It may mean mask enforcement coincided with the natural pace of the spread.

Thanks for proving the point.

Yes.

And 8f you have die hard who wont wear a mask and they then refuse to go out that adjusts the numbers to make mask use look like it works, while really we decreased the pool of possible victims without accounting for it.

And usually the mask stuff isnt alone. Which is another false argument half this board makes. We are seeing the shut downs and limitations on businesses as well.

As someone pointed out IF it was JUST the masks that would be one thing. But we are seeing other mandates come down with the masks too. They just focus only on the masks because it's the easiest to defend. The other mandates are conspicuous in their absence.

I'm curious if you have ever spoke out about curfews.

Trust scientific data which shows, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that wearing a mask minimizes infection and community spread.

Like this RCT?

A cluster randomised trial of cloth masks compared with medical masks in healthcare workers

Conclusions
This study is the first RCT of cloth masks, and the results caution against the use of cloth masks. This is an important finding to inform occupational health and safety. Moisture retention, reuse of cloth masks and poor filtration may result in increased risk of infection. Further research is needed to inform the widespread use of cloth masks globally. However, as a precautionary measure, cloth masks should not be recommended for HCWs, particularly in high-risk situations, and guidelines need to be updated

Hmmmmm.... who to believe.... the CDC or President Trump?

Really, REALLY tough one here.

Um the tweet shows it’s happening in other countries. Multiple states have been fudging numbers. Facts. But hey, why not trust the CDC, whom had been wrong on so much throughout this. Pretty sad that your only defense is to bash Trump for everything. That shows a severe lack of independent thought.

I definitely trust President Trump over the CDC and the World Health Organization who are puppets of China right now.

Trump sucks, so blaming things on him comes naturally.

Also, he sucks.

P.S. Trump sucks.
