Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Atlanta: Mayors in Atlanta and other Georgia cities deepened their defiance of Gov. Brian Kemp on Thursday, saying they want their requirements for people to wear masks in public to remain in place, even after the Republican governor explicitly forbade cities and counties from mandating face coverings. Officials in at least 15 Georgia cities and counties, including Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, had ordered masks during the coronavirus pandemic, and many are venting outrage at Kemp swatting down their efforts. “The mayor’s order remains in effect, as science and data will continue to drive the city’s decisions,” Michael Smith, a spokesperson for Bottoms, wrote in a text. “Masks save lives.” Kemp doesn’t disagree, saying he strongly supports mask-wearing to combat the spread of COVID-19 infections. But he has maintained for weeks that cities and counties don’t have the power to require masks in public places.

This will be fun to watch the Trump-puppet Kemp backtrack on this one. He's in the wrong - just like Dumb Donald - and will be publicly humiliated over his knuckle dragging here.

This type of thinking is why there will be no resolve to this issue, both sides bickering back and forth about Dumb Donald or its my constitutional right not to wear a mask.

You know what the irony of all this is, I've seen multiple people get out of their vehicles with Bernie or Biden stickers walk into stores with no mask. This weekend there is a gun show here in town and I guarantee you all of those asshats will have a mask on while exercising their 2nd amendment rights.

I live firmly in Trump country. The only folks I've seen in the last two weeks wearing a mask were me and folks working.

See this is a huge mistake we are making..... our medical director leading us through this issue is 79 years old...... I work very close with dementia patients and overall patients with physical and mental decline.....The leaders of our country should not be allowed to lead our country at the age that they are right now.... Just look at our leaders:
Trump 74
Pelosi 80
McConnell 78
Biden 77.... his decline is more obvious than most
RBG 87.... she literally looks like weekend at bernies

At a facility I worked at.... a patient that lived there and could fake it really good like a lot people can was still doing people’s taxes in her 70’s The person was incontinent and could not pass any cognitive exam.... she could fake it though to where you could not tell how far she had declined.

Another example was an employee of mine.... you could see obvious physical decline and I had to have someone help with the physical demands of the job.... She could fake her cognitive decline extremely well until I read her evals..... They were a mess including her having goals for the patient set lower than the patient was capable of doing on the day of the eval.

Eh... not following you.

Gov. Kemp has manufactured this crisis out of thin air, because he's a Trump stooge.

It would appear that GA localities have the legal right to promulgate their own restrictive measures, such as a mask requirement during a pandemic, without the consent of the State.

Kemp deserves to get swatted, and IMO likely will lose both in the court of popular opinion and law.

Actually, the Governor doesn't have the power to tell them they can't.
I didn’t see his receipt but are we sure about that..... I know in my county it’s the opposite....the governor issues something and the local municipalities buck on it but have lost in their battle with the governor....

Stop, seriously stop, no one deserves to get swatted you moron. Just because you don't agree with someone don't wish ill will upon them, I don't agree with Kemp and I'm a conservative. Put a damn mask on

Swatted as in struck down like a fly not what you were thinking.

Funny how anecdotal everything is just depending on where you live . I went across the street yesterday to hug my “extremely “ liberal neighbor for putting a flag in my yard on the 4th of July early in morning at day break . Neither she nor I , nor the other neighbors with two kids had a mask on . I probably couldn’t find a Trump supporter around here if I offered to pay them to say it . The stores around here are now hit or miss as far as employees wearing them . It’s a strange and weird thing to watch other cities fighting to force people to wear one . There’s a mandate here but it’s not enforceable by the cops so everybody just ignores it . A stark example of what would happen if we defunded the cops around here . Lol

Maybe but I wouldn't be so sure, I get everyone is frustrated and with good reason.

But put on a mask, give it a few weeks and if it doesn't work then we try something else. Give it a honest try and see what happens

CDC director: U.S. could get coronavirus "under control" in 4–8 weeks if all wear masks

In Virginia the health department is enforcing it now and while the individual can't be charged the business can lose it's license so now all business's are enforcing it. I have my feelings on whether or not it works but I'm willing to give it a try, it's only temporary to go into a store for 15 minutes so it's really not a big deal

No. I won't stop. Not a chance.

And, yes, Kemp deserves to be swatted like a fly.

If you're in agreement that Georgians should "put a damn mask on", then you should support the obvious truism of a pandemic: Masks reduce the probability of viral transmission. Why would you not support their mandatory use? Do you really think it's an infringement of rights? Do seat belts save lives? Is it wrong for our governments to require their use?

Come on, man. Local officials have the ability to govern themselves, and Trump-suck ups like Kemp have the ability to get the F out of the way.

Yeah..... I have noticed the same thing here

We will see. Knox county mandated a few weeks ago and we are at highest cases ever. So we will see in a few more weeks.

Wearing a mask or not wearing a mask is not always a Dem/Rep thing. You can forget to put one on or accidentally leave yours at home.

There’s still no push here in Norfolk to force the business to mandate it . It’s hit or miss . Virginia Beach is different , they wear more masks . It’s all very strange .
