Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I would have to seriously question the validity of the testing, here. First: does this include the many labs that failed to report any negatives (including my training hospital in St Pete)? That obviously drives the positive rate way higher. Second: I would like to know if the other common coronaviruses are ticking as positives. Third: how many of these are antibody tests?

I say we mail order a Petri dish of Covid 19, take big ole lick of it and get it over with. Was on the Gulf Coast two weeks ago for a week yuckin’ it up in road side oyster bars, 30A, Seaside, Rosemary Beach, etc. where you couldn’t stir it with a stick. Beer, spit, sweat flying around everywhere. I got nuthin’ yet.

Probably and probably.

At least farmers are being productive.

There is a group of them that ride the roads where I live, they take up 1 whole lane and make no effort to get out of the way. They can't ride in the middle of the day for some reason they have to do it in the morning when I'm going to work. Sometimes they will have 5 or 6 vehicles held up behind them. Screw bicyclists.
The thing about it in my neck of the woods is these people drive many many miles to unload at the park up the street. Then ride their bikes on our tiny and twisty two lane roads out here in the boonies.

I’m with you... it struck me as nothing more than a new fear tactic

From the article...

Aside from the staggering figure indicating the transmission of the virus, health experts fear it can cause potential lifelong damage in children. Alina Alonso, the health department director of Palm Beach County, reportedly told county commissioners on Tuesday that the long-term consequences of coronavirus in children are unknown.
“They are seeing there is damage to the lungs in these asymptomatic children. ... We don’t know how that is going to manifest a year from now or two years from now,” Alonso told reporters. “Is that child going to have chronic pulmonary problems or not?”

I would love to see the actual study or even just the data that has xray or CT findings of the lungs of asymptomatic children. Plus, correct me if I’m wrong, but any respiratory infection will cause a certain amount of “damage” to the lungs. That is what causes the abnormal xray findings. But that damage is able to be repaired in most all cases of other viral respiratory infections.

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) signed an executive order Wednesday night explicitly banning cities from enacting their own mask mandates, even as the state experiences a sharp rise in coronavirus cases and other Republican governors are turning to mask orders to try to quell the surge.

Kemp’s order voids existing mask mandates in more than a dozen cities or counties while also extending other coronavirus social distancing restrictions statewide.

The governor had previously tried to ban cities and counties from passing any coronavirus restrictions that went further than Georgia’s guidelines. But many cities, including Atlanta, defied him by passing mask mandates anyway, arguing it was essential to flatten the curve. Kemp’s new order “strongly encourages” masks.

That doesn’t make any sense

Can you get infected with COVID-19 twice? Experts say possibility is 'certainly real'

In London, King’s College researchers have found that antibodies peaked up to three weeks after onset of symptoms before declining. The study of 90 patients and health care workers was published in in a preprint paper in medRxiv and has not yet been the subject of scrupulous peer review.

But the research supports the possibility that COVID-19 could reinfect people repeatedly. Blood tests revealed that while 60% of people presented a “potent” antibody response while battling the virus, only 17% retained that potency three months later.

All of which could prove the death knell for the hope of herd immunity through a one-shot vaccine or community spread of the virus.

Meanwhile, in a shocker, Alabama proves it's smarter than Georgia.

Alabama to require face masks as coronavirus surges

After days of an “alarming” upward climb in coronavirus cases and hospitalizations, Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey announced Wednesday she will enforce a statewide mask order.

The move was an about-face for the governor, who previously resisted statewide action even as other states implementing mask wearing or began rolling back re-opening plans in recent weeks. But several public health officials this week — including the state’s former health officer, now head of the Alabama Health Association, and its largest county public health officer — have publicly supported calls for a mask mandate.

Ivey had previously said she believed a statewide mask mandate would be hard to enforce. But Ivey said Wednesday the “numbers do not lie” and reiterated the severity of the situation.

Yeah, I mean I have to agree with you... requiring citizens to (GASP!) wear a mask in public during a global pandemic is absolutely CRAZY!!!

The next thing you know, states will mandate that we have to wear seatbelts! Or even worse, make it illegal to drink and drive!!!

HOW DARE THEY!?!?

PLEASE DON'T LET OUR RIGHTS BE TRAMPLED BY FASCIST DEMOCRATS!

Show 'em that our rights are more important than anyone else's! Get out there, go to Walmart, don't wear a mask, and start sneezing. Sneeze like your life (and more importantly, our rights) depend on it, man!

Lol - you guys and your positive cases graphs. The test accuracy and manipulated numbers make these just about useless.
