That’s never enough though. He’s not going to be able to slow play an entire campaign and just get away with “Vote for me. I’m not him.” He’s going to have to articulate an alternate agenda that walks a tightrope between his base and the moderates that handed Trump FL, PA, MI and Wisconsin.

This is why the Trump campaign’s messaging isn’t working and is all over the place. They have burned through $700 million trying to paint Biden as Joseph Stalin and don’t have much to show for it.

In certain ads appealing to black voters, the Trump Campaign has reminded everyone that Biden was the architect of the 1994 crime bill which set harsh minimum sentences for drug offenders. That legislation has disproportionately impacted the black community. However, in other ads, the Trump Campaign is suggesting that Biden would de-fund the police (Biden has denied this). The Trump Campaign is trying to have it both ways depending on who the particular ad is trying to appeal to. The problem is that everyone, not just the target audience, gets to see both ads. Either Biden is too harsh on crime, or he is too soft... you can't have it both ways.

I won’t say you’re wrong, because I don’t know for sure you are. That said, you have to admit Trump is making it MUCH easier than any previous incumbent. I’m not convinced Biden couldn’t win without leaving his house between now and November.
