George Floyd Protest/Riots

So the law would consider this a justified killing if it had occurred between two civilians?
I don't think any reasonable person would expect someone not to shoot after some guy ripped away your tazer and tried to use it on you. Of course, people are not thinking reasonably right now. This guy was wasted, passed out at the Wendy's drive-thru, and rather than take his DUI like a man, he chose to fight. He chose his path. Cops did what they should have.

So it becomes a license to kill? Can you show me where that's codified or found in the case law?
TCA 39-11-220(b)(2). Clean kill in Tennessee based on the video. I can tell that you want to be outraged and think that this guy was fleeing and no longer presented any threat to anyone, but anyone who is objective will agree that a guy who is drunk, fights two cops, and steals a tazer and tried to use it on the armed police, presents an immediate threat of harm if not to the police than to anyone nearby.

No one deserves to die over a taser, that’s objectively dumb as hell
He didn't die over a tazer. he died because he fought the police and showed willingness to take a weapon and try to use it on them just to avoid a DUI. The world is better off without people like that just like the world is better off without drug addicts who stick loaded guns into pregnant women's stomachs to try and steal drug money. It's okay to be outraged over injustice but you need to pick better heroes.

He only stole one of their tasers.
The guy just outmanned the both of them in a wrestling match. The refusal of people to accept that sometimes the cops are going to use deadly force and sometimes it's going to be used against people with dark skin is making me unsympathetic.

The “weapon” was a taser, so yes, he died over a taser. But I figured it wouldn’t take long for this site’s opinion of George Floyd to be “I’m glad Chauvin killed him”

I don’t even care about the color of his skin.

You have his car and ID. You have backup on the scene and additional backup arrived within two minutes. Just let the guy run, follow him, and make the arrest.

His crimes are DUI, resisting arrest, and assaulting a police officer. Is that always worthy of death? Are the cops supposed to be judge, jury, executioner?

Lethal force should be a LAST resort. Nobody was in imminent danger.

I'm not glad or sad about George Floyd or Chauvin. Don't really care.

And how far can a drunken guy run anyway.
It wasn’t going to be too tough to take him into custody. He’ll take your time running him down and let him wear himself out

If this dude had been white, you wouldn't be saying a damn thing. And neither would I.

Lol this **** in ATL, they have the interstate blocked and the cops are going to disperse them. The battle cry is "WHITE PEOPLE TO THE FRONT!" Apparently they think cops care about who they gas, but there's so many thirsty white folks begging to take one for the movement.

This site? Most posters have stated Chauvin was in the wrong with the knee. But to compare that incident with this one is stupid. A taser is a weapon and the suspect could have had more weapons for all the officers knew. This was 100% a justified shooting

How do you know they had his ID?
Aggravated assault with a weapon on two officers is pretty violent and serious and they didn’t know if he had other weapons. Completely justified and it’s the suspect’s actions not the police that led to it. As usual

Jesus he died because he shot an officer with a weapon and they didn’t know what other weapons he could’ve had. You know if an officer is shot with a taser, they are in danger of being disarmed and killed
He was in zero danger of being disarmed and killed. He was at distance and had backup, and brooks was running away.

It's funny seeing how twisted this description is after watching the video. He was running directly away and two officers with guns weren't far behind him. They had no reason to fear for their lives even if he was pointing a taser at one of the two armed officers
