COPS is actually one of the best training tools you could have.
Especially when good cops are shown. I always think of this NJ cop with the mustache early 90's think from Trenton, no matter what, he was always cool, under control, respectful, direct and sincere in trying to deal with people. He should be the poster policeman for how mental training and situational calm should be taught. There were many times he could have been justified in being a d***, but, never did.
Then, you also get to see the jack arse cops as well. What they did that was wrong, or perceived to be too much. The knee in the back for instance, you see many episodes where it happens, and sometimes it is right on, applied correctly and short, other's a little long. The one thing always occurring is the suspect no matter what is uncomfortable, to being in serious pain, and you see that agitiating the situation versus calming it by the demanor of the cops and length of interaction.
Tough job.
