George Floyd Protest/Riots

And is whole lot of common sense!

If I moved to Mexico, Germany, Spain etc... I would expect to have to learn the local language why shouldn't someone moving into the United States be expected to do the same?🤔

We don’t have an official language and are supposed to be a melting pot, but Republicans don’t like that. Entonces, being offended by and resistant to people speaking Spanish is definitely a Republican thing

Where did I say "official" language in my post?

I would think it would be common courtesy for someone to learn the language that 98% of population in the new country I have moved to live speak.

Just as I would expect to learn Mexican, German, Spanish or Russian etc. etc.. if I went to live in one of those countries.

The original point I made was that Republicans are more resistant to people speaking Spanish, which they absolutely are.

English-only isn't making understanding English a "common courtesy," it's attempting to make it a necessity.

I caught a portion of one of today’s memorials for Floyd and heard one of the speakers say that racism killed George Floyd.

I have not followed the ins and outs super close so my apologies if this has already been answered.

Is there any evidence that the police officer that killed Floyd is a racist?

No but that doesn’t matter

Nope. The conversation isnt even an honest one.

We have a police brutality case here. Yet to see how it has anything to do with racism.

Its almost as if it's planned and scheduled, but I was never good at reading graphs.

I do agree that this country is supposed to be a melting pot and there is no official language . However, I will bring up “cultural appropriation” that floods my timeline every time it’s Cinco de Mayo, an Erykah Badu concert comes to town or a white person opens an Asian fusion restaurant. The posts usually start “Dear White People, it is not okay to do.....because it is racist for you to.....” That is as much, if not more of a Left thing than Republicans worries about people speaking Spanish .

Anecdotal... these Dems that we live around I can promise you have no intentions of speaking anything but English . There are two languages here .. English and Hindi ( India) and they speak English unless they are talking to each other . It’s not just a Republican thing .
