That's because if you go to trial the penalties are so harsh that you're better off admitting you're guilty even if you're innocent. It's a very very well documented phenomenon. Do you think that blacks are the only ones that get harassed by cops? They are an equal opportunity offender. They will take money from anyone that can help pay for their police force. That is one of the problems I have with little podunk police departments, they want to self fund by becoming crooked police speed traps.

The justice system is made up by the liberals or conservatives who make it up. I am willing to bet for most locations if it leans one way or the other politically that the justice system there is made up of representatives of that political party.

Which is just another reason I think parties should be nuked. If we didnt care about the R or the D next to their name we wouldnt keep electing these Aholes who are corrupt or at best dont those who dont fix the problems.

There is no logic that in a state run by (R or D) in a city run by (r or d) that replacing the police within the (R or D) justice system is going to improve anything. All you are doing is changing the name.

Instead of the Minneapolis Police Department you will have the Minneapolis Sector 7 Social Protection Department. Or whatever snazzy name they come up with. It's literally the same thing by a different name. Unless there are a lot more actual reforms than are getting talked about.

They aren't forced to, but from a practical staindpoint you are all but forced to admit you're guilty even if you're innocent. Hard to keep the prison population at a million if you're giving people a fair trial. Big money keeping people in jail.

Charge someone with a crime that doesn't have any money and they are told to plead guilty and be let go under the judicial diversion laws. Don't plead and go to jail. Not exactly a great system.
