Systemic Racism

Police have alway had bad and corrupt officers. There are bad, corrupt and racist people in the world and always have been.

Many years ago this type is stuff was worse than it is today. The reasons are: society has changed, peoples views and opinions have changed, officers are better trained and equipped, there are now more minorities in law enforcement....among many other reasons.

The reason it seems much worse is because of two main factors. 1. Everyone has a video camera. 2. Social media.

Back years ago someone in Florida didn’t know what happened to jon doe in Utah....now everyone shares their opinion and shares their real “bad” encounters with police.

We simply see it more.....that doesn’t mean it happens more.

Again, as stated in my other post we cannot accept ANY injustices brought on by police. However we have to use real data and real information from all sides.

Police and the pro-police side will probably not listed if the argument is wrong or unsound. Just as the other side will probably not listen of the pro-police argument is not factual.
This is simply a pizz poor argument to make. Whether it is a rare occurrence or not, the fact remains that we have seen in recent high profile cases where cops get themselves involved in these incidents and they are given days/weeks/months for the investigation to occur (while on leave) before charges are made... and this is usually sped up if there is video evidence. If there is no video evidence, now it is your word against the cop. And if you are a dead man, then we only hear the cop's side of the story.

Ummm.....how is this a pizz poor argument?

I wasn’t making an argument, I was answering someone’s question.

Also in my answer I said we cannot accept ANY of these type things from police. I did not accept bad behavior, I did not try to rationalize it, I did not try to excuse it......I simply answered a question.

So how has anyone’s rights been degraded?
4th Amendment violations are the most common occurrence out there thanks to the war on drugs, terror and recently coronavirus (contact tracing, cellphone location).

1st Amendment violations are next where they usually harass people with cellphones and prohibit them from recording.

5th Amendment violations are violated whenever we have highwaymen and revenue chasing cops doing asset forfeitures on the side of the road.

And 5th and 6th Amendment violations occur when the person is killed like a dog on the streets because they were denied their day in court.

Restrictions are just for hunting. The only limitation on magazines is the length of the barrel. To solve that problem Remington has come out with an 870 that has a detachable magazine so reloading is very efficient

Edit: So yes I want one

Mossberg and Charles Daly also have one in the regular format style.

There are about 700,000 sworn officers. Do you think it is remotely possible to put that many people in bad situations with bad people, and no policeman loses his cool? Sh!t is going to happen, and you can't stop it, any more than you can stop mass shootings. Find me a profession with 700,000 people who react perfectly in pressure situations every time.
And all most reasonable people are saying is that when sh!t happens and the cop is involved, there should at minimum be equal standard of justice applied to them as a normal civilian.

Nice! For some reason, I thought you said replacement tube, and was trying to figure how long the barrel would have to be if the tube held 9.
I did say replacement tube. then I moved on to the new magazine gun so reload is faster. The number is 26 inch barrel for 9 +1. The standard 18.5 barrel gun holds 4+1 but can be expanded to 6+1

I’m right and I don’t give a **** about Floyd’s last problems. What happened to him is absolute inexcusable BS. Why Chaivin did it? I have no ****ing idea. Was he a racist? Probably. Maybe. But do i know?
I know twice as many White people die at the hands of police every year. I think we need prison reform. I think we need to stop over policing. I also think we need to call out the ******** rioters and people claiming systemic racism. I guess I’m a man with no country. **** Everyone!
I agree with everything you said, sir. I'm not your enemy in that regard.

And black males (6% of population) commit how much of the crime? I’ll await your response.

That is going to be a problem that needs to be addressed, I definitely agree. But it will be a long time in fixing, and I'm not sure blacks or whites (or at least white liberals) are going to be willing to make the necessary changes.

Lets tackle the easy stuff for now, which is police brutality and tyranny.

Both good guns. I’m just a Remington guy.
I’ve actually shot the mossberg. A buddy got it not long ago

I’m not so much a “Remmington” guy now days.......but the 870 is probably to best at what it is and I have one. Wish mine was the hardwood home defense with detachable magazine.

Not sure how “practical” shotgun pistol is but the little Honcho by Charles Daly is pretty cool.

The study you mention as a base uses “all people.” The study is per 100,000 people; however this can not give a correct representation of “rate” of people killed by police....because not everyone has interactions with the police.

My first statistical statement was total...which is correct.

My second was from actual “rate.”

Most people will never have an interaction with police. Most people have never been arrested (either justly or unjustly)...one cannot use “everyone” when trying to find a “true” rate.

To have a true understanding of the “rate” you have to go by those with police interactions, people arrested, people pulled over....ect.

12% of a population will be one thing.
However 40% of interactions makes that % much different.

The statistics you provided is based on about 12% of “total” population. However if that were based on 40-50% of “interactions” the “rate” would be much different.
BS. I am a white male and I’ve had roughly 6 interactions with police. 4 traffic accidents (2 when I was driving, one my fault when I was a kid), 1 speeding (I did) and 1 felony traffic stop because the same type of vehicle just recently carjacked. All were professional. The ones in the felony stop were of course more loud and to the point but I did what they said and they explained what was going on.

People have different experiences with the police I get that. But let’s not pretend it’s all horror show

Not sure what your taking objection about?

I made no mention of how these experiences went in this post. I was merely stating “if” minorities had more “interaction” %’s vs their overall population %’s the one study (which was listed) would be greatly skewed.....and not an actual representation.

I do. You can say it's semantics if you want, I think it's an important distinction. Especially considering there are plenty of people who would be perfectly willing to take away rights from cops, given the chance.

Seems like the way I've phrased it is no different than this guy.

I have an old Ithaca 12 ga. that holds 3 rounds but I believe by removing a plug it could hold 5. Not sure if that would be legal but y’all got me thinking about it.

I know a lot of people can't stand Ben Shapiro but this is a really good summary on what should be the conservative take on these protests from Larry Elder.

Maybe. Didn't watch the video after the first 3 seconds.

"Holding the police to a higher standard" is a common turn of phrase. I wasn't trying to make it sound like you said something dumb. I just think it is an important distinction.

“American history books and/or Ricky”

Your version of events doesn't seem much easier to believe tbh. Chinese and Japanese Americans arguably have a harsher history of racism on the west coast than black Americans. Somehow that demographic is doing OK out there, but racism from slavery must have spread west like a virus somehow. Doesn't make much sense to me.

I don't think people arguing for complete systemic racism in a place like ****ing Minnesota can talk too much about history. A lot of hand waving is required to make Minnesota look like it is overrun with racists, historically speaking. Or the second stop Atlanta, for that matter.

Text me tomorrow some time. I lost yours number. We should get lunch late this week

Am jealous. Both ways. Charlotte is a long way from Chatt though.

1 of you guys start a thread and help me figure out how close we are to the Rapture. For the 1st time in my life I actually believe we might be close. So much wickedness. Truly does seem like this country, and the world, has lost its minds.

"Here's what to think" and talking points smh groupthink and tribalism. What happened to individual and rational thinking?

I’m with you there. The problem will be the over correction.
