George Floyd Protest/Riots

Republican Senator comments on teargassing peaceful protesters for a photo op:
SEN. RON JOHNSON (R-Wis.): Didn’t really see it.
SEN. BILL CASSIDY (R-La.): I didn’t follow, I’m sorry.
SEN. PAT ROBERTS (R-Kan.): I don’t have any comment on that.
SEN. MITT ROMNEY (R-Utah): I didn’t watch it closely enough to know.
SEN. MIKE ENZI (R-Wyo.): Sorry, I’m late for lunch.
SEN. ROB PORTMAN (R-Ohio): I’m late for lunch.
SEN. LISA MURKOWSKI (R-Alaska): Not the America I know.
SEN. BEN SASSE (R-Neb.) in a statement: I’m against clearing out a peaceful protest for a photo op that treats the Word of God as a political prop.
SEN. MITCH McCONNELL (R-Ky.) in a Tuesday news conference: Apparently there were few to no injuries, and no one got killed, and there was a minimum amount of looting. That’s a heck of a way to feel like you might have had a good night.

I would like to see what a bigger city without police looks like. I don't believe there will be mass robberies and lawlessness. Too many CC folks for that. There will be some negative effects but there will likely be some positives too.

This whole "defund the police" movement is silliness. Police are absolutely essential. No one said defund healthcare after doctors do bad things.

Lol I'm in LA so I'll let you know. Cautiously optimistic

Police and lawyers need each other. You may have a conflict of interest.

Did not have Mitt Romney tweeting black lives matter on my 2020 bingo card.

That dude is as spineless as they come. Always shifting wherever the politically-expedient tides flow. Always trying to gain favor with the Democrats and media.

He's too much of a coward to actually switch to Democrat because he wouldn't get elected in Utah with a D next to his name.

Does he plan on running for Senate again? I'm guessing he retires to spend time with his wife(s).

I thought he lived in Mass or Michigan.

Yes they always are- and the right is always itching for reasons for things to not change or improve.. and militarize. That is the timeless nature of politics. Time to start finding common ground or we will all suffer.

Seriously, you think the right has militarized things? You might want to look into exactly how much money was spent by multiple branches of the government on guns, ammo and military gear during the Obama years.

What exactly do full time desk jockey branches of government need with tactical weapons and equipment? Flak vests, riot gear, Armor Light Rifles and nvg? Who were they gearing up to go to war with? Which political party authorized those purchases?
