George Floyd Protest/Riots

Yes, grandmas have dropped in the rankings.

Al Sharpton, one of the most prolific Race Baiters (outside of the news media) in America, gave the eulogy at George Floyd's funeral.

It was 1987 when a black teenager, Tawana Brawley, said she had been raped and kidnapped by a group of white men in Dutchess County, N.Y.

Her story of being attacked, scrawled with racial slurs, smeared with feces and left beside a road wrapped in a plastic bag made front pages across the nation — especially after the Rev. Al Sharpton took up her case.

But, as The Associated Press reminds readers, "a special state grand jury later determined that Brawley had fabricated her claims, perhaps to avoid punishment for staying out late."

In 1998, Steven Pagones, who was the county prosecutor at the time, won a defamation suit against Sharpton, Brawley and Brawley's attorneys. They had accused Pagones of being among Brawley's attackers.

Tawana Brawley hoax: At age 15, Tawana Brawley claimed she was raped by six white men. A grand jury ruled her claims a hoax. Today, Tawana Brawley is paying one of those men $627 a month in a defamation case.

the arrest record i saw for Floyd said his last arrest was 2007. is this what u are referencing?
He’s been in prison 5 times. I know once he was arrested for holding a gun to his pregnant girlfriends head he may have even done it twice. I get people make mistakes hell I have made plenty but that crosses a line.

I do not doubt any of these stories.

The bank one is contingent (somewhat) on when he asked for 10K; before or after she called the cops. 10K is the cash limit that triggers bank reporting (our stupid drug laws). Would want to know more about this story but as I said I don't doubt he's faced scrutiny due to his race throughout his life.

One of my best friends lived in ATL for a long time after we graduated from UT. Moved back to ET about three years ago. His kids were friends with AK in ATL. He was over at their house on many occasions. Says AK is straight up a good guy. Everybody likes him, he likes everybody. Was very respectful to the adults, tight with his mom. Apparently puts back a ton of his NFL $$ as he should. My buddy was pushing hard for him to pick UT in the original recruiting process so he and AK had some good natured conversations about it. Passed those tweets along to my friend. His take was he didn’t think AK would make that up at all. Not his nature from the way he knows him. I’m fine with AK talking about their experiences.

I didn't mean to imply I questioned his sincerity. I was just reacting to the 10K thing because I know that is a cash limit that requires banks report the transaction. It's stupid as hell but it's a legal requirement. I have zero doubt he's experienced different treatment because of his race.

That’s not a very credible pivot from “The Jury considers the charges the prosecutor inteoduces” or whatever you said, but I guess you don’t make partner at Dunning & Kruger by admitting you were wrong. I’ll accept it as close enough.

The murder 2 charge probably opens up additional lesser offenses because it adds the element of a mental state requirement. Determining what constitutes a “lesser included” is a complicated process that I’m not even going to attempt for a state that I don’t practice in.

There are almost never disadvantages to overcharging. And the idea that it isn’t done for emotional gratification of victims, the public, or to manipulate the emotions of the defendant is still a romanticized view. The prosecutor is an elected politician in most jurisdictions, after all.

The reality is that the court system is motivated by pretty much one thing: efficiently churning through the process of obtaining convictions.

Weren’t you making the point earlier that cops see ****** people all the time and it impacts their perception? Maybe that was somebody else, but it’s true. It’s true for judges and prosecutors, too.

So what happens to judges and prosecutors when they get to that point? A conviction becomes justice. “If this guy didn’t do this, he probably deserves to be in convicted for something.”

At that point, it’s all about how to get “justice” done with as little work as possible. And the rules governing acceptable procedures have adapted themselves to that locomotor.

The least efficient manner of obtaining convictions is a trial and could possible deter a trial more than ratcheting up the defendant’s exposure and telling him to put his life in the hands of 12 strangers?

Maybe Sahlip & Phall would be a good fit; can you float me a contact?

Ellison is a radical, and not a very circumspect guy, from displaying the book "Antifa: The Anti-Fascist Handbook" in a 2018 tweet likening Trump a fascist, in April that Trump's willing to let Americans die for his own benefit and is a faux-Confederate (white supremacist), to his criticisms that Barr is a politicized AG. I've no reason to extend to AG Ellison the same courtesy he denies AG Barr.

A borderless advocate, commie. His affinity for and with cop-killers, SLA, and such must be viewed with incredulity. "Former" NOI local leader and Farrakhan suck-up....how is this man an AG?

I understand judicial expediency but that is a matter of legislative priorities. I think that should Chauvin plead to Man 2, Ellison would likely reject.

Something that just crossed my mind while watching the news. It was mentioned that the police are working 12 hour shifts 7 days a week. That’s a buttload of overtime for some of these cities, I’m sure other departments like sanitation and fire departments are working massive OT also.

That’s a bunch of payroll for these cities that have been shutdown and tax revenues have got to be at historic lows. These cities are going to have to have massive tax increases to pay for all of this.

A couple of weeks ago anyone in groups of more than 10 were selfish and going to kill every old person they met now groups of thousands are celebrated walking together. Also people opening their salons were arrested, now people burning buildings, beating women with 2x4s and killing cops are celebrated.

Got Newspeak, 'Brother'?
They're literally memory-holing edicts and proclamations, and dire warnings of calamity before the next batch of elder care victims can be stacked in a U-Haul.

Dear god what a bunch of pathetic dumbasses

The problem I have with this is all these names/cases are nowhere close to the same. So many different circumstances. Some happened because of their own behavior (Michael Brown), others happened because of cops making bad decisions and are legitimate discussions.

I have thought of that as well. Destroyed buildings, equipment, and cruisers.

I’m sure they are already working on their federal money relief requests .
