But that removes the fictional narrative that there is a systemic effort to keep certain people down. That flies with the masses.

I think that depends on each individual case. Police overreach and excessive use of force should be examined on a case by case basis. Sometimes I think it is about race... but there isn't a simple, "one-size fits all" explanation.

I guess that answer belongs to the citizens of those cities and states being impacted.

Think about what you are wanting to happen. If Trump does send in fed troops what's going to stop the next POTUS from doing the same even when there has been no violence?

From a certain POV, I agree. But it is far more complicated than saying that it's [merely] a poverty issue as opposed to a race issue. Listen to the cries of the AA population in America. There is genuine pain and fear there. Genuine. We can't sit back and say that there isn't. Whether the system is stacked against them (I refuse to say it isn't in some way), the genuine pain and fear means we have issues to take care of.

Table the discussion about whether the system is stacked. Table the white privilege talk, etc...

If I am going to live out my Christian values, it means living with empathy for others. Trying to see things from their perspective. So, if there is genuine fear and pain there, it means that we aren't done. There's work to be done.

And if we're to outdo one another in giving honor, answering their call that "our lives matter" with "all lives matter, get over it" is not the answer.

Then the citizens in those areas need to nut up and stop it, demand their elected officials put a stop to it.

WTF do you think federal troops are going to do? They won't be given an ROE allowing them to open fire at will.

Oh... And police abuse is a "police state, militarized police, us against them" issue as well. It goes far beyond race or poverty.

So far, the police have been unable to stop this. Now it's likely possible they have been given stand down orders by their liberal mayors.

It seems to be getting worse police are being targeted by people driving cars/trucks into them and over a half dozen were shot last night. It looks like with each night this is going on these terrorists are getting bolder in their actions.

It looks like it's only a matter of time before they start going after innocent civilians by doing home invasions. If that happens things will go from bad to worse as we'll start seeing assaults, sexual assaults and murder as people try and fight back.

No one wants it happens. but it might have to happen. Who is to say that if Trump did not do it, another POTUS would anyway.

Most fear is irrational. If you arent involved in the drug trade or drug use, yours odds of being murdered are ridiculously low.

So low, that it shouldnt consume any meaningful amount of thought.

If things devolve to the fifth level of hell they will be allowed to do what they have to do. In the case of a street war i would have no problem with Soldiers shooting down paid rioters firing at them in the streets.

Very well could happen but let me paint you a picture.

Trump declares martial law and send in fed troops, they kill a bunch of civilians, who gets the blame? Who gets prosecuted by Biden's AG, the soldiers who were not trained for these missions and never signed up for them.
