Prediction from 247:
Tennessee is tearing it up on the virtual recruiting trail this spring and summer. The Volunteers rank second nationally with 24 commitments, according to the 247Sports Composite. Jeremy Pruitt and Co. should be applauded for the job they have done during this unprecedented time of isolation and quarantine, but the Vols will not be in the top 5 at the end of the year.

In fact, the Vols’ composite rating with one less signee in the 2019 class was higher (261.5) than the haul of 24 players today (259.7). The Vols finished No. 10 in the 247Sports Composite for the 2020 recruiting class, by the way, and a similar finish should be expected with this 2021 class.

Tennessee is on the right path under Pruitt with top-10 recruiting classes, and they should be competitive in the years ahead, but landing in the top 10 or top 15 nationally usually means a middle-of-the-road recruiting finish within the SEC.

8-4 this year is a bust. Need one of the big boys to get some of the targets we want
I think we go 8-4 and get one of the big boys. I just don't think our gap from the mid/lower teams is there yet and we will drop one. Can't think of the last time we beat them all 2 years straight. We are still a year (and a great, proven qb) away from really dominating those teams imo.

You're probably right and if that happens idk what to expect in recruiting.
