George Floyd Protest/Riots

A normal place would be where a person can wear a hat and not worry about being hunted down by a mob.

Ahhhh - so that only happens in inner cities and downtowns? THATS the difference!?!

Im curious for our friend Ricky to answer what he meant.

Wearing a maga hat is now a crime I guess.
Opening a barbershop or restaurant was a crime last week.

If you people don't see that our judicial system and the politicians that run it are out of control and that they make laws out of thin air that violate our rights, then there is no hope for some of you understanding the problem.

Wearing a MAGA hat and intentionally walking into a racially charged protest is not in the same universe as a woman getting randomly raped. It’s disgusting you even see it the same way.

Wow, maybe I should have posted in red to be more crayon like for you. My point was that you are one of the people who say “well yeah he got beat by a mob of animals, but he shouldn’t have worn a red hat.” Which is just the same as the people who say “she was raped, but she shouldn’t have dressed so provocatively”. Your statement was idiotic, which is why I’m sure you noticed being called out by multiple posters instantly.

I didn’t make the comment. Our friend Ricky did. Not implying anything, just trying to figure out what he meant by inner cities and downtowns not being “normal places”.

I’ve asked 4 times now and he’s avoiding it like the plague.

A simple definition of a “normal place” and why inner cities and downtown don’t apply should be easy enough.
Normal Americans are not the ones doing these rioting. That is why you don’t see it happening in places were normal Americans live.

How so. Both are victims of crimes committed by criminals

He fails to see a lot

Both should have the expectation that they can dress as they want without physical threat. But there are people that cannot function reasonably in society and will act on sexual, racial, and political motivations.

It’s more just a risk of going out in public. Draw attention to yourself and it might draw an unwanted response. That doesn’t make it right. But to not acknowledge it is not recognizing the world we live in.

Why do we need to change all police departments when this is a rare occurrence? That's what I do not understand. What is it that people want? No arrests of ethnic minorities? Special zones where groups can have their own law, like the areas of London where (allegedly) people can apply Islamic law instead of British law? We already have every kind of cultural awareness and sensitivity training you can imagine. Any sizable department is going to have programs to facilitate hiring minority officers, whether it's a tiebreaker preference or a strait-up quota. Pretty much every large city and many smaller ones have a citizen review board. It seems to me that trying to root out every police officer who would abuse his or her authority is about as likely to be successful as trying to root out every serial killer. There's just going to be a few out there who manage to fly under the radar until whatever it is that triggers them happens. Realistically, there is very little else that we can do beyond what has been done. If someone has new, realistic solutions, I'll listen but so far I have not heard any.

This is not a rare occurrence. WTF are you talking about. Police have been acting out of control and on an elevated level for over a decade. And I'm aware of the fact that the police are not just targeting black people. They are attacking citizens as a whole on some of the most petty of infractions and laws out there.

Your cynical comment about not arresting minorities and special zones is either you trolling or you really don't get it. It is really simple to understand. Don't kill a person when you arrest them.

The answer is simple. Police nationwide do not know how to arrest and detain people without putting the lives of the person in danger. Also, the police/LEOs have far more protection and special privileges when it comes to them assaulting or killing a civilian than normal citizens would have if they were engaged in these crimes. Lastly, the militarization of our police force, the wars on terror and drugs and the use of LEOs to drive revenue (writing tickets/citations) is out of control and it does not do anything to build a relationship between themselves and the people they are allegedly serving.
