George Floyd Protest/Riots

Why do we need to change all police departments when this is a rare occurrence? That's what I do not understand. What is it that people want? No arrests of ethnic minorities? Special zones where groups can have their own law, like the areas of London where (allegedly) people can apply Islamic law instead of British law? We already have every kind of cultural awareness and sensitivity training you can imagine. Any sizable department is going to have programs to facilitate hiring minority officers, whether it's a tiebreaker preference or a strait-up quota. Pretty much every large city and many smaller ones have a citizen review board. It seems to me that trying to root out every police officer who would abuse his or her authority is about as likely to be successful as trying to root out every serial killer. There's just going to be a few out there who manage to fly under the radar until whatever it is that triggers them happens. Realistically, there is very little else that we can do beyond what has been done. If someone has new, realistic solutions, I'll listen but so far I have not heard any.
What is statistically more of an issue?

-a police officer kills someone in a completely illegal action
-there is crime within certain communities, especially violent crimes like shootings and robberies and such

The problem as stated earlier is that some communities (inner city and trailer park) have the same cultural failures (broken homes, drug use, crime and anti-society, anti-authority ways). Until those problems are addressed by those communities this will continue to happen

He was always going to get arrested. The complaining about the number of days is juvenile.
Really? How many days later?

And again, we saw how long it took in the Ahmad Arbery case (2 months) and we just had a post telling us it took 9 months to arrest the Somali cop that killed the Australian tourist. And, if we didn't have the video of the arrest and knee, I rally question if Chauvin would have been arrested at all.

I would love to hear the dumb reasons, because it seems to be pretty spot on.
Well first of all no every situation in those countries were the same (when did the US loot North Korea) and secondly only one or two of those counties could even be considered to have been “looted” by the US and even that is a BS statement

That doesn’t change the sentiment of the posters in this thread..... or anyone else I’ve discussed this with. Other than that bloated dope mayor down in MS, I don’t think I’ve heard anyone say the cops don’t deserve jail time.

Yet, they haven't even been charged.

Why don’t you tell us?

I didn’t make the comment. Our friend Ricky did. Not implying anything, just trying to figure out what he meant by inner cities and downtowns not being “normal places”.

I’ve asked 4 times now and he’s avoiding it like the plague.

A simple definition of a “normal place” and why inner cities and downtown don’t apply should be easy enough.

If you want to get this resolved, you address it at the DA and Police Commissioner level who have lost control of their entities. Cant have that though as they are already under liberal leadership. Lets blame society at large.
Well, it is a societal problem if you have the same type of plice incidents of abuse from sea to shining sea. Just addressing one DA office is not the answer.

And the fact that before George Floyd, you had 2 prior high profile incidents in the MPD and yet the DA and MPD still chose to carry on with their usual business shows that they are resistive to change.

Play stupid games and win stupid prizes.

Such a stupid argument. Do you apply this logic to criminals being killed by police. They play the stupid game of breaking the law and resisting arrest and win the stupid prize of death or injury/prison time. So I guess no big deal what happens to them either right? Or are you selective with who your little stupid games stupid prizes concept applies to?

A normal place would be where a person can wear a hat and not worry about being hunted down by a mob.
