George Floyd Protest/Riots

Where should it be planted? For the riots that originated from the Christian Newsom murders? Oh wait....

Convincing arguments generally don't start with unrelated, dissimilar examples. But by all means, if you want to compare a crazy man murdering a woman and being found too nuts to stand trail with a cop killing a unarmed man for the umpteenth time, please feel free to do so.

I am comparing some kids being tortured by multiple youths to a cop killing a man. Both are angering, only one produced riots.

Hmmm....but find something to rationalize it with.

“A riot is the language of the unheard” - MLK

He’d be fine with them. Republicans like to twist his message constantly

"Violence as a way of achieving racial justice is both impractical and immoral."

“I am convinced that even violent temperaments can be channeled through nonviolent discipline, if they can act constructively and express through an effective channel their very legitimate anger."

A minute ago you quoted Euripides regarding Trump's comments and how the pen is mightier than the sword. Which is more effective, words or action?

That depends on who is speaking. Is it hard to reconcile that the POTUS's words carry weight, even when they are stupid?

Not lost. I am talking riots.

Attempting to portray my position as someone who condones riots is ridiculous, don't do that. I'm simply pointing out that they're effective whether you like it or not. Distinction and difference.

Every time this potus is given a chance to lead the country he fails. He chooses to divide and rally the troops for an election over communicating to all people he governs. I don't really know why I expect anything different at this point though.

So now methods are tolerable if they result in effectiveness. I dont condone the riot, but it helped achieve a goal, so it was ok.

Uh, no.

MLK was much more radical than Republicans who use his quotes to shame people want to admit. If he hadn't been murdered and were continuing to say things like this today, most of this forum would be going all "stick to church" on him.

I need not remind you that poverty, the gaps in our society, the gulfs between inordinate superfluous wealth and abject deadening poverty have brought about a great deal of despair, a great deal of tension, a great deal of bitterness. We’ve seen this bitterness expressed over the last few summers in the violent explosions in our cities.

And the great tragedy is that the nation continues in its national policy to ignore the conditions that brought the riots or the rebellions into being. For in the final analysis, the riot is the language of the unheard. And what is it that America’s failed to hear? It’s failed to hear that the plight of the Negro poor has worsened over the last few years. It has failed to hear that the promises of justice and freedom have not been met. It has failed to hear that large segments of white society are more concerned about tranquility and the status quo than about justice, humanity, and equality, and it is still true. It is still true that these things are being ignored.

Oh please spare me that bs. Half the people hate the man NO MATTER WHAT HE DOES OR WOULD DO. It’s a proven fact that it doesn’t matter what action is taken or what is said in these instances it’s just an opportunity burn down a few cities and for some to get some free stuff.

He knows it was directed at violence and I slipped.

LOL, suddenly i'm supposed to infer what you 'really' meant moments after you conflating outrage over an unrelated, dissimilar tragedy as opposed to systemic brutality towards black folks?

I prefer Malcolm X. A guy that hated white people, worshipped a pedophile, and was killed by his own people.

He implied that American's should be shot.

People are done with his constant shtick of portraying this elitist clown as a victim.

"They'll hate me anyway, so let me just go ahead and say the absolute worst thing possible" still isn't a great approach
