I think Pruitt and Smart are extremely similar. Both are elite recruiters and defensive minds. What will separate them, imo, is which one will find the right OC and be willing to adapt the offense. If the list was based on potential I’d have both above Malzahn and Mullen, but that’s just my opinion.Pruitt is better than Kirby, Pruitt is undefeated vs Malzahn

He spent his first 3 years cleaning up the joke/disaster of a football program that was KY. He’s had winning seasons ever since.
You do realize Pruitt walked into a bigger disaster having gone through Dooley, Butch, and the whole Schiano deal that was surrounding the program?
Not to mention Stoops best team was completely dominated by one of our worse teams.
He’s yet to beat Pruitt?
He has the same rough winning pct as several UK coaches. Do some researchI know. He's still performed somewhat better overall. Somewhat better. He's at Kentucky, so the 2018 squad may have been the best he'll ever do. He's the first decent UK coach since the 1970s, so it's hard to know what he might do.
Pruitt is improved over 2018, and one win ahead of Butch at the end of year 2, but I want to see him do more then 6 of 7 regular season wins.

I don’t think he’s better than Malzahn, but Fisher’s last season at FSU is a big red flag. 10 years ago, no coach would ever get that contract after a 5-7 season. Just shows how insane these coaching contracts have gotten.Honestly don’t even have a problem with Pruitt’s ranking right now. How the hell is Mullen so high; ranked above multiple coaches that have played for or won national titles.
That’s my stance as well, I personally believe ANY coach with a title deserves credit. And for the “his team was so talented it didn’t need coaching” type arguments to be put to rest. But Fisher seemed to be trending downward, and received the contract of a coach trending upward. Never understood that.Hell it’s arguable Smart doesn’t have the signature wins that some of those coaches do as well.
Muschamp is a hard one. I don’t think he’s great but he has more signature wins than Smart, including a win over a much more talented Georgia team in which he out coached Kirby at every turn. This writer knows that Fisher and Orgeron have won national championships right? How could you rank Mullen over Fisher and Malzahn (who had been to a championship and won his division). And Smart over Orgeron? The coach that just had probably the best team ever? That seems silly. Stoops ahead of Pruitt doesn't make sense since Pruitt has beat him both times. Good for Kentucky doesn't mean good overall. Muschamp just is a terrible coach.
You have a point, but Muschamp also has won just 4 games in a season twice including last year. Smart took over when the sec east was at its worst, once Florida and us start competing consistently, their recruiting will take a hit. I think we'll see that happen starting this year.Muschamp is a hard one. Taking out the talent/recruiting of the equation which you can’t do but just looking at X’s and O’s Kirby is a very mediocre coach.
