Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

“Stay-at-home orders during a pandemic, enforced by Democrats and Republicans alike, are actually part of a left-wing conspiracy to punish rural Republican voters and intentionally tank the economy so that Trump looks bad.”

Really? That’s really where people have arrived in their thinking? As if the economy would just be fine otherwise? It’s sad that we’ve gotten here

A snapshot of how Donald Trump is perceived by other countries during the Coronavirus pandemic... Per CNN.com:

Thomas Gomart, director of the Paris-based French Institute of International Relations, said that Europe was watching Trump's response to the pandemic in amazement, calling his behavior "stranger than fiction."

"He (Trump) provides for us a very mixed balance of amusement and a sadness, which is just not what is expected from a U.S. president," Gomart said, an assessment that Spain's Javier del Pino, a leading journalist, shared.

"The way we look at Trump, it was a lot of fun at first," del Pino said. "It's not funny anymore."

Bleach still works though, right? I drank some this morning. My stomach hurts and the skin is peeling off the inside of my mouth. But I don't have the virus yet. Looks like Donnie was right about this one.

You need to up the dosage, dramatically, and soon. Mix with fish tank cleaner. Stay on the regimen; we're pulling for you!

Literally no one wants to be home at this point. Not progressives, moderates, Republicans, governors, anyone. It’s a disagreement over necessity, but no one wants everyone at home just for fun

Not exactly.

"Never waste a good crisis" - Hilary Clinton

The initial lock down was to flatten the curve, which we did. The continued lock downs are not bipartisan in large part.

The data supports a rapid reopening with social distancing guidelines seen in conservative states.

The data does not support unilaterally treating rural areas and urban areas with the same policies.

The data does not support maintaining a strict lock down in areas that are not a hotspot with plenty of available medical care.

So I assume you have a better explanation for the points above?

Thanks, I'm doing better now though. But my vision is blurry and wife says I'm talking funny. That Donnie is a medical genius.

"It's ridiculous the left would tank the economy on purpose!"

"So why are we still locked down?"

"To save grandma!"

"How is the lock down saving grandma given we have to do exactly what we are doing now, eventually?"

*silence*

Tired of having this exact conversation multiple times a day.

We could always put infected grandmas in nursing homes.

We should care why?

"Better" than what? If the explanations are:

1. Democrats are hesitant to send the death toll shooting back upward, and skeptical that you can effectively and cleanly separate rural and urban areas that easily, and

2. Democrats want to intentionally tank the economy, which again would tank either way, on the assumption that keeping rural Republicans home in May will make them vote Democrat in November (which makes no sense, and even if it did, the chances of that being the ONE issue that would swing an election are like .0001%),

then it's not hard to have a better explanation. Plus, everyone already knows that it's Democrats who don't yet want to reopen, not Trump.

This is the conspiracy theory playbook. Take a couple facts and layer on innuendo until they seem nefarious.

Homeboy saddled up with the wrong pony.

Trump simply wanted to actually have hydroxychloroquine if it was needed for widespread distribution. It's cheap and has been prescribed for decades. Very simple to understand. It's disgusting how the left has been spinning this. Expected, of course, but disgusting.

Fauci cumming all over himself talking about remdesivir raised no ire whatsoever despite the fact that the total supply will treat only 200k patients worldwide. The cost is also much higher.

I'm not saying that the cost difference was the reason that remdesivir is now being pushed. What I am saying is that it would have been very good news indeed if a cheap, well-known drug in good supply was able to make a difference. That's it. That was Trump's point.

If we kill all the grandma's we can get to the point it's impossible to kill any more grandma's.

The data doesn't support either of these points.

Rural communities and urban communities show vastly different case rates. So you can pretty easily seperate them according to the data. The death toll hasn't shot up in aggregate of all the places opening up.

And that is ignoring the fact that, again, we are going to have to open up regardless.

I'm not saying vast amounts of incompetence are not a possible culprit, or even a likely culprit.

But pretending the left doesn't want the economy to stay down is absurd.

Bill Marr is on record rooting for a recession. What do you think "Don't waste a good crisis" actually means?

If you were going to die today but could spend one more day alive for $1, would you do it? Of course you would.

But would you spend 1 million dollars for one more day? Probably not.

But would you spend 1 million dollars for another 20 years? Probably so.

But would you spend the 1 million dollars for 20 more years if you were 85? Probably not.

There is a legitimate economic concern when discussing lives. That the govt wants to mandate that there isnt, is absurd.

This is the overarching problem with government. They treat the people as a homogeneous unit. It’s the same reason socialism will never work.

People are holding out hope that it's avoidable. You may well be right that it's not, but it's the same reason Seoul just shut down a bunch of establishments again and it's not to intentionally wreck their own economy

Using a couple of pre-COVID quotes from Bill Maher and Hillary Clinton as a strawman for Democrats writ large is quite a stretch

Also ridiculous. People really have their tinfoil hats on today
I’ve got one!

Republicans are conspiring to reopen prematurely so that the second wave will be much worse than the first. If we are all on lockdown again next fall we’ll have to cancel the 2020 election (because, you know, mail-in voting is impossible) and trump reigns supreme! Mwahahaha

[this is seriously what this thread sounds like rn]
