Many VOL fans say Worley is one of our worst quartbacks in program history, but stats are almost on par with JG. But, some are fine with JG starting QBView attachment 275862View attachment 275863
Does JGs stats or his play make you confident in leading this team?I know bashing JG is a popular pastime, but let’s atleast pretend to be fair. His stats are far better. Completion % is similar but he’s averaging about 2 yards more per completion. More yards, better td to int ratio. Better rating
JGs worst QBR season is better than Worley’s best and he’s averaging about 30 points higher per year on his qbr.
Exactly. This is the one thread I don’t understand at all.
The reasons people don’t want JTD here I don’t understand. It’s like turning down a lottery ticket bc you already have one. JTD might not be great but you take him bc there is a chance he could be. You don’t turn down a kid like this. Stop worrying about people transferring. That’s not going to be an issue. This could be our Joe Borrow or Justin Fields. Or he is a bust and JG or HB starts. It’s a no lose situation. The absolutely only issue is the roster spot and the staff will find a way to make that work.
the per attempt is due to offensive philosophy. Butch was short west coast. Chaney is down the field vertical passing. Doesn’t matter. Both no goodI know bashing JG is a popular pastime, but let’s atleast pretend to be fair. His stats are far better. Completion % is similar but he’s averaging about 2 yards more per completion. He’s bad but can be better. He’s shown flashes in the AU and KY (2019) games. Near flawless performances. I think he has PTSD/anxiety on the field from how much he’s been hit.JG was 42nd in the nation in pass efficiency last year with 2 nfl WRs. Anybody who doesnt realize that as a serious deficiency, needs to go fill up the ketchup dispenser and quit posting on vn.
Lol those aren't even that close. Worley was +2 tds more than INTs his whole careerMany VOL fans say Worley is one of our worst quartbacks in program history, but stats are almost on par with JG. But, some are fine with JG starting QBView attachment 275862View attachment 275863
THANK YOU lol. It should be clear as day. Not sure what people are wanting to see...I know bashing JG is a popular pastime, but let’s atleast pretend to be fair. His stats are far better. Just curious as to how this conclusion holds any weight considering 1 QB knew he would get pulled if he messed up on one drive and the other was injury prone?...Pruitts handling of the QB’s has been questionable and by the flip of a coin has worked in his favor..No head coach or any coach in America would run the QB situation like he has..it causes uncertainty and unnecessary pressure on a QB to perform well on top of having 11 other people after him or waiting on him to screw up..there is no doubt in my mind that if you gave BM or JT the same amount of reps they gave JG with Certainty that he was or could be the QB going forward and getting a fair shake at it,you would see a totally different offense and at certain points we did.Great Game Performance comes with game reps and they never really got enough of those to be absolutely fair.
The 2 with NFL contracts. The ones that are plenty good enough to get you better than 42nd in pass efficiency. The ones that JG overthrew all year long. What 2 NFL WRs? The one who barely got drafted and the one who didn’t? Stop making JJ and MC as some big time elite WRs. They weren’t. JG certainly didn’t play well all the time but he didn’t have all star talent around him.
That is complete conspiracy theory speculation.
I think this assessment is right on the dolla dolla bill yall.1. If JT Daniels transfers to UT, it is because the coaches believe he’s the starter and an upgrade to anything we currently have on the roster for 2020 and/or 2021 (which is allowing for Bailey to develop over time).
2. Thinking that Daniels is better than Guarantano is not some kind of heresy nor is it an indictment of Guarantano as a person. It’s also not heresy to question if Daniels is an upgrade or if it’s wise to bring him in.
3. I appreciate Guarantano’s toughness and tenacity. There are very few QBs who could take the beating he has with our weak OLs paired with some of his own issues that caused him to take additional hits. There are also very few QBs who could mentally come back from the Georgia State, BYU, Bama, etc., debacles and perform like he did against Missouri and off the bench in other games. He should be commended for his toughness and some of his good performances.
4. The truth is Guarantano has not lived up to his billing and he just isn’t very good. The coaches are charged with delivering a UT football team that can win at the highest levels. Not be satisfied with 8-4 or even 9-3 long-term. UT should have SEC title and national title aspirations as a program and the coaching staff needs to have those aspirations and do the things necessary to make those aspirations a reality.
5. If the coaching staff brings in Daniels, it’s because the coaches believe he makes UT better and they are required to do that.
6. If JG starts this year, all true Vol fans will cheer him on and hope that he has the rare senior year in which he becomes the QB we expected with his lofty ranking. But, it’s more than fair to expect his play will prevent UT from having its best 2020 season.
