If Shrout doesn’t throw across his body, I don’t see Maurer beating him out. Shrout had no interceptions thrown last year (except 1 but it was negated by roughing the passer), Shrout takes better care of the ball then Maurer but both are good QBs. Either way Bailey is going to start at some point he is just too talented to keep off the field.

Shrout has talent too, but I haven’t seen enough of him to determine if he’s the same kind of competitor that Mauer has shown.

Mauer can make plays with his arm or feet and that makes him extremely dangerous to defend.

Bailey is an excellent prospect and he has shown almost unlimited potential in high school but until I see him on the field and under fire in the SEC. I’m going to reserve judgment on him.

What I don’t want to see next season is more of the same with JG starting at QB. If he does play it should be when he comes off the bench.

Hey ladies and gents....gonna get a little emotional here. Today is my first born, Sutton, birthday. He turns 5 today. Many of you that have been members of this board probably remember all the complications he had that started a few days after his birth as I tried to keep everyone posted during that hectic time.

As I reflect on those few weeks he was in the NICU....and how initially doctors said he would probably have permanent brain damage or also finding out later how close he came to dying. It was the toughest most painful thing I've ever went through in my life.

But...that moment in time not only brought me closer to Christ but also made me realize that there are some pretty damn good people on here and just want to thank you all for your thought and prayers during that time 5 years ago.

A lot has changed since then...my beautiful and amazing wife and I have 3 kids now and recently just adopted our first family pet. So life is good. As for Sutton....he has never shown any signs of complications from that time. He is a healthy....smart (so smart it's scary) and so energetic. He loves being a big brother to his sister, Braelyn, and brother, Sawyer. Happy birthday buddy and thanks to everyone on this board. Good people.
Happy for you bro. God bless!

At least your gif moves. @volatil said to watch a video. I've been staring at that thing for 10 minutes, it hasn't moved yet.

There will be a lot of options in FA, UDFA's and then the inevitable waiver claims when teams start releasing guys. I think they could have got that same pick with one less pick though. This was in reference to Slicky's post.

McAfee had Rodgers on his show just before that pick. He literally said “I hope we get a skill guy because we haven’t done that in the past 15 years.”

4 years left on his contract

I watched Sean Payton’s explanation of why they did it and it has something to do with a point system that they use for their draft and looking at the roster they only have a few spots open. So, my first thought was WTF but after looking at everything it made more sense. Still wish we had 1 more pick. We need a CB and a WR, imo.

I’d rather have a lock
To me it has been one of saddest periods in Vol history at QB. It rivals Phil's last year or so. I've never seen a 4th year QB get the deer in the headlights look nearly every game like him no matter what school they played for. Even if he could have been taught to do the two looks and run stuff of Dobbs as a freshman or Tee it would have been better than what we keep seeing. I don't want to lose another season of my Vol fandom to it.

88 will do fine even without the coffee.

He doesn’t have the quickness and foot speed that Dobbs had at UT. Dobbs knew that he could get out of pressure with his feet if needed. But, JG has a better arm in terms of strength and accuracy. If he’s asked to throw it on a spot on the field for the WR to go get, he excels at that. Obviously, playing QB is much more than that, and that’s is problem, he can adapt, improvise and overcome when things break down.

I am curious which teams and in which spots in the draft did or will the supplemental picks occur. I may have missed it but haven't seen or heard anything.
