Yes, testing is totally open now with no symptoms required. We’re going to be able to identity asymptomatic carriers and isolate.

I'd rather more confirming that earth-shattering, given that the most widely accepted mortality rate was the lancet-published value of 0.66%. Granted, it was unknown if they were right. And, in order for them to be right, cases had to be an order of magnitude higher than reported. But, that didn't seem a stretch given how many people a) weren't being tested and b) how many asymptomatic people there are. An order of magnitude more infected than counted has roughly been what I've been using for a month. It has made the deaths make more sense, at least. Good, randomized antibody testing should help us begin to understand mortality rate much better....and in the end see if this 0.66% number was right - or if it is lower, more like half-way between that and flu.

Tennessee continues to do extremely well with testing. The majority of new cases are from a prison in Bledsoe County with the general population negatives rising above 95%

Apparently Knox county won’t be ready to open by May 1st, although I’ll be interested to hear if there’s still an opening of businesses just not as many as planned.

I have a feeling the city mayor is the holdup. She said last week that she thought it was too soon to open right before Gov Lee announced the reopening. Mayor Jacobs is ready to reopen now and has outlined how to do it safely.

. They sell guns which are considered essential. I just bought a shotgun there last week they are only doing curbside pickup unless you buy a gun.

I dont see how she has much power in this situation. The county holds all of the real authority. Why would Jacobs acquiesce to her? By the way, he looks terrible for ripping the governor and then responding more slowly to re-open.

She has grabbed on to the new catch phrase. "Flatten the curve" is so passe, it is now "we will go by data, not a date". But she doesnt say what data. This endless race with no defined finish line. A politician's wet dream.

She could always go visit the area hospitals to see just how bad things really are. Or, better yet, visit the nurses and doctors who used to work there.

"Flatten the curve" is a politician's dream excuse to impose their will on people. I live in middle TN, so someone correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't the peak passed in Knoxville? What's the point of continuing the shut down at this point?

I've been tracking the number of active cases for Knoxville and the surrounding 11 counties...the number has never went over 100...right now Knox County has around 25 active the other 11 has 52 total

News broke yesterday that employees in 3 local nursing homes tested positive. This will probably be our regional surge.

Nashville’s cases are down today. I think we may be seeing testing finally catching up, especially in rural areas.
