I feel like I've seen enough to know that I don't know what the correct move is going forward. The virus is so unpredictable. Whereas flu, generally, has a fairly predictable pattern and presentation, COVID-19 is all over the place. While I'm not personally worried about myself catching COVID-19 (as I have a pretty rock solid immune system, compliments of my years in EMS and the ER, IMO) I don't want my hometown and hospital to get a surge of COVID-19 patients because the hospital will quickly be overran and many people will likely die. Has social distancing kept that from happening to this point? Maybe. Will continued social distancing measures continue to keep that from happening? Maybe, maybe not. I don't envy the people that have to make those decisions because there are very good arguments to be made on both sides.

Just the fact that you can be contagious without showing symptoms makes this a new animal. SARS was like that, a Singapore Airlines stew never had a fever but 17 of her family members died and the entire city was infected. Thats why they are calling for testing of everyone ASAP. This is not a normal virus that can be contained by quarantining the symptomatic. To think they were letting all those flights enter the USA with only a temperature check is mind blowing.

We have no clue how many people have been infected until everyone does an antibody test. How many are asymptomatic - you’d never know until everyone does the test.

It's chaotic trying to get goods out of China by air. The flights have been reduced by 80% and the volume has increased by 500%, shipping costs off the charts. Today I was notified that China customs is holding any product categorized as medical for inspection prior to shipment. They are intentionally slowing the rate these goods are being exported. They are also running a media blitz in China that the virus originated in the USA.

I generally don't do adherence calls at work anymore but since the COVID outbreak we have seen a huge increase in meds not being filled on time. I called patients in at least 20 states in every time zone today. Lots of transportation services that ppl depend on aren't running. This is something that the stay at home until we get a vaccine crowd doesn't understand. It's not just about a virus that hasn't affected 99.9% of the country, there are people out there suffering because they can't get to the pharmacy or store and don't have any income to pay for rent, meds and food because they are out of work.

Great Smoky Mountains National Park will reopen May 1st.
Pigeon Forge is reopening May 1st & some businesses may open Monday April, 27th. Hotels will be doing "contact-less checkins". Restaurants will be doing limited seating to follow distancing guidelines. Most theaters will reopen May 9th & will also do limited seating. Dollywood and Splash County will tentatively open June 1st.

Tennessee has 93 fewer active cases today than they did yesterday. They are also heading into two weeks since peak date.

Looking at the Covid cases in the US this morning. Of the resolved case, cured or deceased, the percentage of deceased stands at 35%. I've been tracking that number loosely for the past couple of weeks and really expected that number to fall drastically instead it has continued to rise. It has me perplexed a bit.

Or dont have the resources/man power to follow up on all the cases that aren't in the hospital.

While I do think the media tends to sensationalize things because our news institution is built on ad revenue, I don’t think these local governments are wanting their economies to creator.

What happened to the flu deaths, are they still being monitored? I think we are at the point in this situation where more data is needed locally as soon we have decisions to make. Who died, how do they think it was contracted and where, were they quarantined or working in a store or office, if so what type business. Surely they ask these questions even if the patient does not have an answer. Some kind of pattern would be helpful instead of X amount of cases, Y have recovered and Z have died.

How exactly did Academy sports get on the essential business list? Just noticed tonight they were the only store other than Pets Mart open in a huge store center
