Vol girl fans thread

Vol fans seem to have HBP.... dam you Dooley, Kiffin, Fulmer, Jones.
lol - still the best explanation ever for hypertension

I'm still on lisinopril, because back in the day, it was believed that beta-blockers (the "lols" - atenolol, metoprolol, propanolol, etc.) were bad for you if you had lung issues, including asthma. They've backed off from that now, it appears.

As for amlodipine and friends (calcium-channel blockers), I was on verapamil for a while, but after losing weight, my blood pressure went too low (yay!), and I dropped it.

HTN meds: A-B-C-D
A - ACE inhibitors (the "prils") and ARBs (angiotensin-II receptor blockers - the "sartans")
B - beta-blockers (the "lols")
C - calcium-channel blockers
D - diuretics (Let's Go Peay!) - diuretics reduce your blood volume, and therefore your blood pressure

One fun thing about the novel coronavirus is that it attacks ACE2 receptors, specifically attaching to them and taking over their RNA, and no one is sure whether being on an ACE inhibitor (like I am) helps or hurts.

But at any rate, this is why hypertension is a risk factor for serious COViD-19 disease: people with HTN have more ACE2 receptors in our lungs, meaning more vulnerable attack points for the coronavirus spike protein.

So blah blah blah, my periodic and not very impressive cough might be due to lisinopril (a very common culprit i.e."ACE cough"), or allergies, or just some behavioral habit. It doesn't bother me enough to change meds for. My new goal is to lose enough weight so as to not need any meds at all - meaning the HTN would be gone.

@vollygirl, is it possible to hide this just for us?

@volwindy, @VolNExile, @vollygirl, I’ve noticed we’ve (myself included) been a little less vocal in the last few weeks. You all are missed. I hope and will pray, that each of you special women are okay. If any of you aren’t, if you can, let it be known, we can pray for each other.
At one point in time, on the old board, there were password protected rooms. I don't think that's an option here. :(

I'm good. We're going to build a thing to plant some tomatoes today.

How are you?? Hope you get to be the one to walk that @ss out at work. :D

I’m doing pretty well and you can depend on it. 😁

It's crazy, I've been busier at work at home than when I've been at work at the office. My team (4 paralegals and 4 attorneys, we are down 2 attorneys right now), support the mortgage servicing side of the business - so lots of new communications to review immediately that go to customers in regards to what we are or aren't doing for them in the time being - which has been changing what seems like hourly based off of new state regulations we now have to comply with.

So once I finish a day, I'm spent, but get in a nice workout and walk to decompress. Then it's okay, I'm ready to relax and not look at the tablet/phone.

There's my excuse 😆

I know, it’s been crazy at work. I bought a nice Hatteras Red today, along with mozzarella and prosciutto and some good crackers, to give to someone that is very special to me. He’s been very stressed lately (works in healthcare). Thank for checking in. Miss seeing you around.

Duplin???

That was one of the first muscadine wines I tried!

I liked it, not my favorite, but not bad. Sorry, I’ve been in the RF this week, a lot of news. Sometimes the silliness gets to me in here, even though I contribute to it also. Do you like muscadine wines? If you do, I can offer suggestions (you probably already know about them, just pretend you don’t, 🙂)

Ha! I've had probably most muscadine wines from NC, SC or Tennessee. Duplin was what I started on. I don't drink them like I used to, but I enjoy them on occasion. We went to Apple Barn last year and I did not like any of their apple wines but surprisingly liked their muscadine. Also liked the sparking muscadine from Northfield Vineyards.

Apple Barn? Didn’t know they had any, wouldn’t like the apple anyway. Will check out Northfield online this week.
