New-natal abstinence babies excluded, addicts don’t become addicts until they at least try the substance. Prison is still enough of a deterrent for the majority of the population to prevent them from even trying the drug in the first place.

Tell that to the overflowing prisons full of simple drug possession inmates.

And you still think prescription drugs are worse than meth and that meth should be legal? That’s insanity
The majority of the people I know that are or were addicted to heroine or meth started with prescription drugs (Oxys, Vicadin, Adderall, Vyvanse, etc). A bunch were straight-laced for a long time until the addiction outgrew the pills.

Yes. There would be absolutely no risk if meth was sold right next to cigarettes in convenience stores. Wouldn't make a bit of difference. More people wouldn't have access to it. More people wouldn't become addicted to it. More people wouldn't ruin their lives, the lives of their families, the lives of their children, etc. Just put it all out everywhere. Who cares?

You won't see me arguing that the government is perfect in their efforts but I, for one, am very glad you aren't in charge
Your dreamland is just that. You think we'll all go buy heroin tomorrow if legal? Lol.
Addicts will addict REGARDLESS. The rest of us are hopefully educated on the dangers.

And we probably could use more education. If problematic, then rehab. Not a jail cell.

Sorry if you need a law to tell you drugs are bad, mmmk.

Apply this same logic to gun control next time you decide to debate it...

no kidding but the way you regulate and tax and sell it can share the same model. that is why you don't see weed in Colorado IN GROCERY STORES OR GAS STATIONS. Quit with that, it's ignorant.
It doesn't matter. the point is the widely accessible aspect of it. Who cares if its sold in grocery stores or in strip malls? The point is the accessibility of it would make it far more used and therefore far more destructive to this country than it ever has been. This is not hard to understand. The laws do keep it in check to some extent. Sure, some will break the law and use it, but most won't. If it were legal more would use it, more would get hooked, more lives and families like your friends destroyed. How you can see this and not care just absolutely baffles me.

This is ignorant and doesn't do justice to how addictive meth is.

Did you see me debating it?

I posited the culture could be an issue. You're just imagining if you think I said anything about restricting them, or have me confused with someone else.

I think it was Ron Paul that once famously posited during a national debate:

"How many people here would use heroin if it were legal?" Paul asked. "I bet nobody would." "Oh yeah, I need the government to take care of me," he said. "I don't want to use heroin, so I need these laws."
Ron Paul was the man we needed but clearly didn't deserve. Most Americans are too dumb and/or brainwashed to realize it.

I’m in favor of limited decriminalization of marijuana, but not other drugs (especially meth). The highlighted statement in your post is just inaccurate. Although it obviously isn’t stopping everyone, prison is still a deterrent for the majority of the population.
No self control is. Majority of people wouldn’t start shooting up heroin because it’s legal. Most people understand that you’re running the risk of ruining your life by doing that

Good. Darwinism works.
Actually I'm glad you said this. This goes back to our conversation yesterday. This is a worldview issue. Darwinism does not care about human life. Humans have no value at all. We're just bags of protoplasm banging around with no intrinsic value. So it doesn't surprise me that those who hold to that worldview think that everything should be legalized, including life destroying drugs. Of course, as I said yesterday, you can't live consistently within that worldview.
