Coronavirus (No politics)

Just an amazing stat that not one person under 18 has died without an underlying condition from COVID-19 and only 3 total from the many unfortunate NYC deaths

It is. The worldwide stat on that is just unbelievable.

My wife and I have had this discussion. As insane as this has been, the US would have flipped out if this thing devoured children as it does the elderly.

I went through the numbers as well. If you’re <65 with no medical problems and live within the five Burroughs of NYC, your chance of dying of COVID -19 is currently 1 in 100,000

I wonder if it's that much more deadly to seniors and the immunocompromised or if it comes down to lack of immunity? I remember reading that with H1N1 several of the elderly had built in immunity already

Infection rates are fairly uniform to population in TN I believe. But elderly might be more likely to become symptomatic and get tested, which could actually mean they have a lower infection rate. Really though it seems no immunity for folks other than young children maybe. The whole asymptomatic thing throws a monkey wrench in trying to understand that. Hopefully antibody testing teaches us something.

COVID-19 Lethality Not Much Different Than Flu, Says New Study

In Santa Clara it seems to be teaching them that a whole lot more have already had this.

Coronavirus in Tennessee: Free statewide COVID-19 drive-thru testing locations to open this weekend

We have 45 cases in Sullivan County (Kingsport). Only 1 death. 31 of the 45 cases have recovered. Northeast TN in general has 75% recovery rate: 116 of the 154 cases have recovered. That's great news
heard all the rain you've gotten up there has made the streams and rivers to swift to fish. maybe you'll get them to yourselves for a bit before things open back up. I would think it's a rare treat to be alone on a good trout stream in this day and age.

IHME just dropped projected Swedish deaths from 18k to 6k.

It has been one of the least restrictive governments in the world in regard to covid and has faced much ridicule for that.

It has a slightly larger population than NYC.
