No desire to interrupt the Tiger/Jack debate, but I'm quite convinced that C-19 can be greatly tamed by Vit D. I keep coming back to Iceland. Vitamin D supplementation is critical in Nordic countries, and they do so regularly through food and pills. Their mortality rate is hanging there at about 0.4%. Every major region or population group that has been particularly bad is also known for having low Vitamin D. Every one. There were studies done on the 1918 Spanish Flu that concluded that Vitamin D greatly reduced mortality. Black Americans are dying at a rate double their population representation, and they are known for having D deficiency at more than 2x white Americans. In addition to improving immunity, Vit D also modulates the release of inflammatory cytokines, which is what is killing people now (not the virus), and what what killed them in 1918.
Guys, the vaccine already exists. It's Vitamin D. The summertime sun doesn't kill the flu, the summertime sun makes us immune to the flu.
There is nothing yet conclusive on UV rays. I strongly agree with the Vitamin D part. However, it was shown UV possibly inactivated the virus with SARS and MERS. If helpful, it could be used at entry points into buildings, airports, etc. as the article suggests. There would be less exposure with aerosol transmission outdoors and in settings where it was used safely.
