I do feel a little defensive about people downplaying the possible deaths. Viruses are complicated. If they do organ damage, you can have a cardiac arrest that was caused by the virus. I don't know if that's happening, but there are articles with doctors and experts talking about all kinds of complications. Really, autopsies are needed to determine that kind of stuff, and understandably that doesn't seem to be a priority in hard hit areas.
But I do agree. We don't know the true mortality rate. For one, we are usually calculating it against active cases. Some number of those active cases will also result in death. There are some number of deaths in New York that are likely Covid related, and they aren't being counted. Those things would raise the number.
To your point, yes, there are a whole lot of people in this country that have it or have had it that aren't getting tested. That would obviously drop the mortality. That would also drop the hospitalization rate. That's good for everyone. Where that number sits is anyone's guess at this point. I don't have a good feel for guessing that, but South Korea is probably closer than the rest of the countries. If it's a really high number, that's going to help us on the other side of this first curve since more people should have an immunity for some time after.
But the transmission rate, as you have also said, is high. Too many cases too fast are going to complicate our ability to respond to those that do require hospitalization, and that number is much higher than the mortality rate. That's why I urge caution with thinking it's overblown.

And SK is not testing anywhere close to their whole population either...no symptons or light symptons not getting tested still matter in their numbers.

Government should never be able to dismiss our God-given rights. Our government is supposed to be the protector of our unalienable rights. It appears that certain government entities have become destructive of these ends. Their cure is a hundred times worse than their fake pandemic which is no more serious than the seasonal flu.
For serious study, you should research the eugenics movement begun by Margaret Sanger in the 1920s and the financial support given by the Rockefeller Foundation, Bill Gates, Ted Turner, and other elites. Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh is quoted as saying, “If I were reincarnated I would wish to be returned to earth as a killer virus to lower human population levels." Many of these people embrace mandatory vaccinations and implantation of digital chips for all of humankind. Look into the ID2020 Alliance. The ID2020 Alliance is a digital identity program that aims to "leverage immunization" as a means of inserting tiny microchips into people's bodies.

As for Civil War documentaries, I liked Ken Burn's 5 part series 1st aired back in 1990. Of course I like pretty much all of his work including the one on country music recently.
I absolutely do not believe it is 2% of all infected, but that doesn't matter. I will buy it being closer to 1%. That is still 2% of "confirmed" cases. The true number is at least half that. Asymptomatic and almost none of the lightly symptomatic do not get tested anywhere. If you want to believe that crap then go for it.They are not on lock down. Stores and restaurants are open, yet the virus is spreading very slowly. That suggests very strongly that they are doing a good job of tracing and identifying carriers. It doesn't matter how many you test if you test the right people. When they weren't ahead of it, it was spreading very rapidly. Even the dudes that said that only 6% of cases had been confirmed worldwide, said that SK was probably closer to 50%. Their current mortality is 1.93% and has been slowly creeping up for weeks. I stand by my estimate.
