Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

My mom is mid 70s. Her kids can drop food off on the back porch and any other thing needed.

How about we stop stupidly acting like it's all or nothing.

So multiple people in the carrier pool have handled her food. How old is her doctor? Dentist? She need to see an accountant this time of year? She still driving?
A lot of elderly are going to need a lot more than that.

Sure. No way to identify people.

If you can track what malls, stores or restaurants people go to, you telling me they can't narrow down what house those hones go to? Or what job they go to?

OK

I get what you’re saying.

SOMEONE absolutely has access to that.

I’m sure the government has access to it.

Apple has that data.

But I’m talking about the companies that buy that data.

If apple sells location data to Company A who is a analytics company and packages that data into consumable information, I’m not sure if that company gets anything more than a home zip code. But they could. They also can tag locations and ask where the phones that were in that area went but what I’m not sure is if they can only generate the zip codes where they went or specific addresses.

When company A is selling their service to me, company B, I know I can’t get more detail than that. Just zip codes.

The satellites aren’t directly tied to the phones. They just track parking spaces and how dolled they are.

I’ve got it. What do you want to know?

No concern about privacy issues? No "slippery slope" concerns?

I turn off the apple tracking and most location services unless I’m using the app. I don’t know if that totally protects me but I’m not too worried about it.

The government can track me all the time by triangulating towers or hacking the gps.

I’m personally not really worried about it either way but I cared enough to try to turn off what I could. So, there’s that.

This is effing lazy. You literally cant fathom people working a 50 and under plan.

Us delivering the food is more dangerous than her walking thru the store? She cant take a clorox wipe and wipe the packages down?

An interesting balancing act to say the least. You're not concerned on the purchase side of the data but you also take measures to limit access to your cell phone data.

I took a quart-sized ziploc freezer bag and put some wipes in it, and I'm wiping down everything at the store before putting it into the buggy. The problem is that I leave it at the top of the cart in the little basket and forget to take it out, and the checkout people just stare at me. But that's pretty normal. HA

The government, Apple or anyone else having that data is concerning. That is all I'm saying. And it is not as anonymous as it is being told to the masses. All of these phones have the ability to track our locations at anytime. Only now we are seeing this info now being weaponized against the people during this quarantine/stay-at-home order situation.
