I am a freaking criminal defense attorney, and I have no outrage about personal liberties right now. To me, it’s nonsense. But thank goodness people can have their own opinion. People are just pissed because they have to show some discipline.

Great. Keep paying attention, Mr. freaking barrister. This is all I ask.

I'm glad you are feeling better. How is your mother in law?

Any chance at getting tested where you are? I've got a couple of old friends in other states that have covid-like symptoms. One can't get tested because they don't have enough tests in his area so he doesn't meet the criteria. The other finally got tested but will have to wait another 10 days or so.
She is doing really well. Whatever it is seems to be cleared quickly.

I hear that you have to be really bad to get tested around here now but I’m not sure

Yep. Believe what you wish, I choose to filter all of it through my experience and understanding. I do not buy into the panic promulgated through the media outlets. I caution everyone to pay attention to the reduction in personal liberty in this brave new world.
What personal liberties exactly are being reduced. 99% of people in this country, in quarantine during a global pandemic, have running water, food that can be delivered instantly, electricity, internet, air conditioning.... the list goes on. Putting work and school on hold so that we can help out healthcare workers and protect the vulnerable is not having your personal liberties attacked. It is asking you to do your duty as an American and a human.

Had Peyton forgone his senior season do y’all believe we could have been back to back champions or not? I’ll hang up and listen.

My hospital census is way down. They are actually furloughing some of my co-workers right now. We should handle the surge (7-10 days). I volunteered for the ICU. I really don’t think they will need me at this point. I hope that is true because it means we are well on our way to being normal again.
I’ve been hearing the same on census numbers from nurses who work at Summit and Cookeville Regional. Both have been described as ghost towns. One nurse has been furloughed for over a week now.

People don’t want to be told what to do. Yes, part of democracy is to do what you want, to an extent. The problem is when your liberties effect someone else. Crimes are one thing because the legislature has deemed that activity as wrong. But the virus can spread without someone committing a crime.

Our society simply does not have the discipline to do certain things, and something like a virus will keep spreading when you have undisciplined people doing what they want.

You then have a crowd who says to let the young people work because they can overcome it. That then creates a few scenarios. 1. The elderly would have to rely on the younger folks to get necessities, and the young are exposed. 2. There are many industries where there is a mix of young and old, and the system can’t run. There are a number of older judges in the legal world. If they are told to stay home, then it doesn’t matter that the young are working. 3. You will have people who will work regardless of health. Their job depends on them, and their employer puts pressure to work, or they are self-employed and have to work. Then you are spreading the virus.

So, then you get what we have. It’s bad all the way around. But the people talking of losing liberties are just pissed that they are being told what to do to help their neighbors out.

I will be 44 next week. My goal is to retire somewhere around 61 to 62. I have a financial advisor and he has been telling me to be patient and leave it alone. I have done that. JacketVol’s comment about being worse than the recession spooked me a little.
Listen to your financial advisor and be patient. I was fortunate enough to retire at 62 and I haven't looked back. You'll take a 25% hit on your social security benefit but I didn't let that bother me. I've been retired for 10 years and have played at least 2500 rounds of golf since retirement. It can be done---just don't panic like so many do.

Who put school on hold? Asshats have me doing it at home!! Homeschooling will never be an option in my household!

On another note: My 9 year old is left handed. His handwriting has always been horrible. I was watching him re-write a paper today and stopped him. Had him change the angle of his left hand slightly...so he could actually see the pencil lead on the paper. OMG, a world of difference! Third grade and his teachers never noticed that he couldn't see what he was doing? Wth?

My freedom to peaceably assemble to worship (or to assemble for any other valid reason), my freedom to earn a living, my freedom to travel without fear of being stopped by armed officers are all affected. When you sacrifice freedom for promises of security, you will have neither.

Great of you to volunteer for ICU if needed. I think what Sen. Rand Paul is doing is great as well. He was one of the few senators who got the virus a few weeks back, and, after recovering, has been volunteering and helping out at a hospital in Bowling Green.
