Isn’t every carrier also home to the Rear Admiral in charge of the Carrier Strike Group?

I get it, Captain of a carrier is an important position. But they’re not the ranking officer on the ship, right?

IIRC, the captain still runs the ship, not the admiral.

N95 masks are 3 microns, the virus is 2 microns. The mask protects others from you, capturing your greater than 3 microns moisture with the embedded virus.

He and those around him are being regularly tested, and others are masked.
He should not mask up; someone has to not act like a quivering jellyfish.

However, any request for change in the Carrier Group's mission runs through the Carrier Group's Commander, Rear Admiral Baker, the Roosevelt is his Flag Ship. Which means he was present, on board, while this incident was taking place.

A good friend of mine who was tested Tuesday texted me a few minutes ago to say that he was notified he had tested positive. He’s a fit guy but said he generally feels like crap and has lost 12 lbs since Monday.

An Admiral commands a fleet , whereever his flag is flying is where his home is at the time .( home is where your hat is kinda thing ) There can also be a Vice Admiral on board or even two Captains on board at the same time but there can only ever be one commander in charge at any time . I don’t know but I would guess that he was the ranking officer on board and wouldn’t dare go over his Admirals head if his flag was flying on the carrier . ( pure speculation on my part )

If his Admirals flag was flying on that ship and the captain went over his head to pen that letter the way he did , the outcome was never in doubt regardless of his intentions.

From what I looked up (not a military expert for sure) The Roosevelt is the Flagship of Carrier Strike Group 9 which is part of the Third Fleet. There is an Admiral in charge of the Fleet but he doesn't necessarily have to be on the Flagship at all times. At a given time he could be anywhere or on any ship within the group or on land at Third Fleet Headquarters in San Diego.

As far as being the ranking officer on the ship I guess he wouldn't be if the Admiral was on board. But there are instances where lower ranking personnel are in charge of someone of higher rank. I imagine Captain Kirk would kick an Admiral's ass if he interfered with the operation of the Enterprise.

This is where Trump gets his ass in a sling for lying all the time. Does Trump really believe the Chinese are being transparent? Is he stupid or lying? Either is bad. And if he happens to be telling the truth we have no way of knowing based on his track record.
