Coronavirus (No politics)

Went jogging in my neighborhood this morning. I counted 6 construction crews working on different new houses in a fairly close area. New homes in this area are generally listing around $1.5 million. I know the contractors will soon have to answer to the banks on short term construction loans and I'm sure that they're all praying they can close a sale before the market nose dives. Then you have the workers, most of whom are illegals who can't draw unemployment so they have a strong incentive to work. However, I don't understand how this is an essential service or who in the hell they think is going to pay anything near the market rate as of a month ago for a home. You can't have social distancing on a job site like this and these same people are going to go to the same places as the rest of us for food, gas, health care, etc. If flattening the curve is really so important, why aren't they shutting down the homebuilders? Just one of many things that I don't understand about this.

First positive case in my hospital was resulted/diagnosed Tuesday night after having been swabbed on 3/26. Elderly, several underlying health issues, but lived at home and hadn’t left his house for three weeks and had no/limited contact during that period with anyone other than his wife. To me, that lends more credence to the thought that this virus has been here for quite sometime.... we just weren’t looking for it.
I agree that it's been here. I do wonder about mail though, We've been spraying ours just in case. May be useless, but still.

I'm a mailman. If you see me laying in your drive way , call for help.😢

All they have told us is that it's a extremely low chance of getting it that way. How do they know? I'm not sure

230 mail carriers have caught it so far, 1 death last time it was reported. Most cases in NY area

If they're all in New York I'd say it was another type of exposure.

The hype around the virus being detectable on things for all this time doesn't show that that doesn't necessarily mean infectious all that time. Fecal particles last forever on things, but we all aren't constantly obliterated by bacterial infections like e. coli.

We're opening all of our deliveries outside with gloves on and leaving as much packaging outside as possible. Everything that does come inside gets wiped down before it makes it past the mudroom. Doing something similar with the groceries. Personally, I feel like we're overkilling but my 80 y.o. mother-in-law is with us and most of what we're doing is for her peace of mind.

Thanks for being on the job. We got a retirement announcement card from our carrier on Monday.

So you are thinking it was in his house for 3+ weeks waiting to infect him? I don't follow your conclusion. He got it from somewhere.

Of course he got it somewhere. It didn’t just magically appear, but he got it before we were looking for it, meaning it was somewhere in his area, therefore my area, before all this hysteria broke out.

A number that you won't see on the news today 200k recoveries 20% of all patients that have had the coronavirus have already recovered

Will restaurants still be open for takeout and drive-thru?
Whenever Executive Order 23 is signed and delivered to the Secretary of State, it will be published here gov. Bill Lee Executive Orders. If they use the same list of Essential Services as they did in the Attachment at the end of Executive Order 22, take out restaurant services will be an essential service. You can open Order 22 and scroll to the end to get an idea of what is "essential".

According to the IHME site Alabama will be one of the worst hit..worse than Cali, GA, or NJ. I asked one of the professors that was talking about it for the methodology he said he didn't author or endorse it
