Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

You kind of danced around the question. Enthusiasm for a particular candidate could affect a D or an R. Georgia, especially in recent elections, isn't a state that is so heavily red that it can discourage turnout.

I do understand why what Kemp did raised eyebrows, particularly because he was running for governor in the next election. The way I understand it though, Georgia allows for automatic voter registration when people renew their driver's license. It doesn't unregister people who move, died, or are registered in multiple states, they are required by the feds to clean the rolls, and a bunch of states don't share voter rolls with other states. Hence if you hadn't voted in a couple elections, you got taken off. I'm not sure that disproportionately affects Democrats. Kemp was actually doing what previous state Secretaries of State had done - he happened to do it on the eve of an election he was running in.

I can't prove it, but I believe voter purges are less about cleaning up the rolls and more about extra scrutiny/suppression to certain areas. Similar to the polling station resources being reduced to an area while also reducing extended voting.

Any advantage one party can take, while having some plausible explanation, will be exploited. It's just that when the other cries "foul", they are often dismissed by the controlling party, while the courts take forever to offer a remedy.

It’s disturbing to me how many people are fine with these increasingly stringent orders and welcome them. If this whole thing terrifies them they could simply stay at home voluntarily and no harm will come to them. They think this is temporary but the government will never forget what you let it get away with in the name of safety.

I could get on board with that if the rolls were purged in only Fulton County, for example.

Kemp's decision should have drawn scrutiny because it was a case of a guy refereeing his own election, and it did. I totally get why it raised eyebrows, but that story isn't as simple as "Yep, that's a racist Republican trying to keep minorities off the rolls."

Yep, the next "emergency" we'll see them pull out this playbook again.

so we are or aren't talking about Kirk? Your post says both

We're not talking about Kirk, but if you insist on making it about him, I wouldn't listen to his Tweets about unnamed sources either. However he often names sources so that's different.

can I throw another variable at you? Imagine people being tested who disease process is clearly known to be the reason they are in the hospital and not covid related at all? 2/10 should not have been tested in my icu. 20% could really skew some models.

Almost a million negative tests now, so yeah we’ve got a lot of coonhounds barking up empty trees, or trees full of squirrels or possums in your example.

"In his statement, Lee said his administration analyzed cell phone data and traffic patterns to reach the conclusion such a mandate was necessary. The administration said data indicated while there was a steep drop off in vehicle movement between March 13 and March 29, recently, travel has trended upward."
People are know beginning to understand why everyone has " needs" a cell phone, a smart TV. Big brother has been watching you for a long time. Be sure you get an Alexa for the house as well. ;)

I'm looking for the day when the government decides that the opioid epidemic has reached crisis status. They could really shred the 1A for that one.
Pretty sure Trump has already called that a "crisis" multiple times and devoted all kinds of federal government resources to it. His solution to it appears to be throwing money at the problem, not issuing shelter-in-place orders. Also, I don't think popping oxycontin is highly contagious.
