Participation trophies and being told their crap didn't stink has left generations of people in the US lacking the emotional maturity to deal with this.

How many people have to die for something to be worth your time? Just put a number on it.

People with your attitude are the reason why covid-19 will kill more people here than anywhere else. This same attitude is the reason it will drag on longer here than anywhere else. We could be on the back end of this and on our way to getting folks back to work but instead we've got folks sending death threats to Dr. Fauci.

In all seriousness, I want each and every one of us all to make it through this, recover economically and flourish. I’m looking to forward to building my new house right up against my community lake that’s stocked with bass & bluegill. Then I can start me a little family of mini Vols so I can yell at the big orange with my little ones in unison. 🍊 keep your prayers many and your worries few as you can. Having strong faith & hope in your heart will get you very far in all of this. It WILL come to an end, although we’re not sure when. But there’s definitely one that does, He knows all about it ☝️

And the economic damage will be worse if nothing is done. See: cities that delayed measures during the 1918 Spanish flu. Those that took stronger measures early on came out ahead economically.

On an extreme scale, what if we had quarantined Washington right out of the gate and closed all intl travel right away? Could have nipped this thing in the bud. The longer we put it off, the worse the economic effects are.

The idea that there is a strict tradeoff between lives and the economy is a false one.

My dad was in favor of making a deal with Russia. We send one ICBM to Moscow, they send one to Washington, after that no more hostilities.
