Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

They're doing a state wide shelter in place in Georgia beginning Friday, and school is out the rest of the year.

It's not trivial at all. Can you imagine a senior year of high school without a prom? That will become the reality for a lot of these kids in a few weeks. It's a real shame.
They’re all texting each other right now in a little bit of disbelief because it’s hitting them that they’re never going back to high school again.

Serious question: Has anyone heard any updates on whether the anti-malaria cocktail is having good continued success? I know there was the preliminary study out of France saying it worked well and there's the Hasidic doctor in Brooklyn who is anecdotally touting good results. Just wondering if we have any more studies out yet.
Have not seen anything.

Who wants to hear about possible solutions and hope being reported when you can flood the internet and airwaves with “200K Will Die” headlines?

It would be incredibly good but blind luck if they found something so simple that works. It usually takes years of research to come up with something that mitigates the effects of a virus. It took a long time to develop tamiflu and the cocktail of drugs that help aids patients. There is still no cure for any virus.

In what way could his response been improved? The CDC was offering to go to China and assist. They were denied several times. The CDC set up passenger screenings in ports of entry once it was known the virus spread through person contact. He was briefed with his team on Jan 26 or 29 and gave them unwavering public support and confidence. International travel restrictions were put into place. Decisions on shelter at home and essential-only services were left to each state or local jurisdiction.
1) Epidemiologists and infectious disease experts were advocating for more Americans to self-quarantine and to cancel social events in early February. However, President Trump held steady to a cavalier tone on the virus into March.

2) As other nations, such as South Korea, tracked and prevented new infections by testing tens of thousands of people, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had administered fewer than 500 tests in the entire month of February. Trump's claim that "anyone who needs a test gets a test" was a brazen lie. Dr. Anthony Fauci has called the fed's testing program a failing.

3) President Trump's team ignored an alarming shortfall of basic medical supplies, such as masks, hospital beds and ventilators necessary to handle an expected surge of patients requiring hospitalization and the Trump administration fought with governors who were openly requesting the White House to release federal funds to aid in preparation efforts. Trump brushed it all aside and accused any governor who was critical of him of partisanship.

Indeed, Trump didn't change the tone of his rhetoric on the threat of the Coronavirus, until the stock market crashed.

I don't think it's ever been touted as a cure. It purportedly makes the symptoms more mild and quickens recovery, with the big alleged benefit being less time (or better yet, no time) in the hospital.

Trump just declared war on drugs coming from our southern border. President Trump triggers enhanced counter narcotic operations, involving the Navy, combat ships and Coast Guard cutters

Are you really so negative that you are poo pooing this treatment? Why did the FDA fast track this as a treatment?

The reprieve means you owe thre full 3mos payments. Not like they're adding it to the end of your mortgage

I saw where Fannie and Freddie are pushing the loan servicer to issue a forbearance and tack those payments at the end of the loan for home owners that call and request it.

Well..because no one really cared about that.

that's because the journey on horseback was long and tedious when you graduated.
I bet his family could do better than that. Imagine date night in this baby.

If the schooner's a rockin', don't come a knockin'!

Actually, I went to Memphis to attend a business convention with my mother, and had a nice evening with a 26 year old divorced lady who was also there with her parents. Dang, she had some nice balloons. I guarantee that I had a more memorable graduation day than if I walked across the stage that day.
