That is ridiculous..nobody said that, and you know it...We HAVE said that a Stateof Fear is how totalitarian states usually get their start, or gain momentum.
This is happening in Hungary right now with Viktor Orban. Whether they are on the far right or far left, strongman politicians are licking their lips right now.

I know..and jake keeps saying this is just a made up argument...no matter how many examples we keep pointing to where it has happened over and over and over again..

The ONLY way to keep this from happening to us too is in being vigilant about making sure it doesn't/can't happen.

If you don't think power hungry people and organzations are not doing everything they can right now to take advantage of this going forward, then you are blind. That is not paranoia, it is just good common sense.
it's made up in the sense that you're operating under the notion this is GOING to happen...that it's a foregone conclusion....and we need to go ahead and start doing something about it now.......and i'm like....you sure about that???.

anyway, historically, yes i know it's happened in the past....your examples aren't made up, or false.

i just don't think they're automatically applicable here, much less already in the process of being repeated or reinvented.....and the preacher deal in FL is just a lowest common denominator argument tht will galvanize folks that think like you, weezer, 88 and the other guy do...."they arrested a preacher for preaching in FL!"......"they took away his 1st ammendment rights of speech, religion and assembly!!"...and even displayed in these conversations, there's no acknowledgement of the context or potential consequences of his actions, and everything is easily explained away by hiding behind some form or either of the statements above.....

and the reality is that has nothing to do with revoking rights....it really doesn't. the extapolations on display from that one incident are more alarming than the incident itself, imo.

i'll just leave it at this...if, when we get to the end of this, and the mandates and shelter orders are all lifted, there are preachers, newspaper people...whoever...that are being arrested, prosecuted, barred or whatever from legitimately exercising their 1st ammendment rights, then i'm gonna stand there next to all of you, and sing in tune......

this situation is unique, and it calls for unique measures. it starts and ends there..as far as i'm concerned.

and i realize that as i've gone on and on about this the last two days, it sounds like i'm some virus scardy cat, deathly afraid im gonna get it and this virus is the end of the world as we know it. and really, i'm not....but i am a pragmatist...and pragmatism dictates that since the best way to kill this thing right now is stopping the spread, then the actions that do that best, are the ones we should be doing, or not doing as it were...... or it could get historically bad for humanity....

if you look at these measures from that starting point, they start to make a lot more sense, as does any enforcement of those measures. the only purpose in play here is stopping the spread....when/if there's real evidence otherwise, then we can talk about this other stuff....cause it is important....i just don't think we're in near the dire straights in that arena, that we could be if we don't get the virus arena under control...sooner than later.

Odds everything is opened back up by June 15ish?

I'm going with 80% chance. We will peak mid-month, curve will start to flatten by the end of the month, testing and treatments will improve and become faster and more widespread in May, and the floodgates of normalcy will open in June.
I will take it. Hope you are right.

How does that affect 2021 fall season?

Play football March-June, then immediately start up again in September?

Possibly a shorter offseason and no spring practice for a 2nd consecutive year. Or the 2021 season starts later and ends later so the offseason isn’t so brief.

Yea, some on here know what I do, and I have stayed out of this fight. I am fiscally conservative but have a job that requires me to think more liberally. I have no issues with the safeguards in place, especially knowing that I have had some close calls. I was told of someone who tested positive recently. He and hundreds of other people would normally be in and out of roughly 20 court rooms on a daily basis. If these restrictions weren't in place, there is no telling what kind of effect it would have had on the people that I know or even me.

For those saying that we won't get rights back, I say that's nonsense. It's not worth the debate, and I agree that no one wins in this situation.
Winning is surviving. Our country will and hopefully all of us here will, too.

go back and read the conversation we were having, it was in reference to that specific conversation.....lol.

Hey everybody I’m here to ask for a prayer or thought or whatever you can muster at this point. My wife’s grandfather had a fall a couple nights ago. He broke four ribs, and punctured a lung. To make matters worse, he has been struggling with COPD for some time now. All that combined with what appears to be an extended stay in the hospital, things could be better. We are praying for a Passover of sorts. Thanks in advance friends.
You got it.

how far back do you think we should go back to where government stayed out of our personal lives? People in general are stupid. At times when government intervenes for the betterment of society, it is a good thing.
I agree with this to a point, I am no anarchist, we need good government.

Unregulated business has always been proven to just use working people and resources as trash to use up and throw away when left to their own devices...see the Coal industry and it's many abuses of both individuals and nature as a perfect example. I am glad that Teddy Roosevelt came along and busted up the Trusts for the good of working people.

So which publishers are you taking this novel you have written in the last two weeks to?

Could see that. Man, this could have a ripple effect on CFB. Could actually upset the power dynamics a little.

For sure. This effect will last a few years. I think spring football is more likely now than fall football, if it’s played. And as desperate as ADs are to have football to generate revenue in order to help fund the other sports, they’ll do everything they can to play.

One of the pharmacy techs at our local Walmart tested positive yesterday as did an employee at Mt. Juliet City Hall. And 5 of the twenty five Gallatin Nursing Home patients who were transferred to our local hospital who initially tested negative in Gallatin before being moved are now showing signs and being re-tested. The crap is everywhere!

Yup. The Kroger I normally go to had 2 workers test positive.

Has anyone built a garden/garden box on a slope? I have a relatively small neighborhood yard and the only reasonable spot for one is on a slope towards a shallow drainage area.

Yeah, several times. Most vegetables enjoy good drainage. For those that prefer more water, you can buy landscaping fabric with almost as much or as little permeability as you want.

And if you want really good yields, 2 words.
Mushroom compost.
I was producing more in my 16×16 raised bed than my neighbor on his half acre plowed and fertilized lot.
