yup. i'm in. let's do it now. and for as long as we need to.
if we have to do this again in the late summer/fall, it'll be worse the 2nd time around.....likely because the measures will be a lot stricter.....we need to buy as much time as we can right now.....
Question...are you set as far as taking care of your family..no matter how long this takes?

Probably is an April fools joke but I think I saw something about athletes who are borderline grade casualties not make into schools this fall because they didn’t get a chance to complete their spring semester to boost grades or act/sat scores. Someone fact check me on this.

Every time I give my dog some carrots or cucumbers from the fridge, she just seems frustrated that she can't make us understand there's more in there.

She just looks at me like
"Noooo! Don't close the magic box! No matter how many treats you pull out, there's always more. Why don't you understand human? If I had thumbs, I'd show you"

But wouldn't that affect him trying to now get into UT?

To me it's like when a murder or kidnapping happens in a neighborhood and the most common thing you hear is "I never thought it would happen here". Well now it's too late, it happened and you're stuck with it.
I know..and jake keeps saying this is just a made up argument...no matter how many examples we keep pointing to where it has happened over and over and over again..

The ONLY way to keep this from happening to us too is in being vigilant about making sure it doesn't/can't happen.

If you don't think power hungry people and organzations are not doing everything they can right now to take advantage of this going forward, then you are blind. That is not paranoia, it is just good common sense.

I’ve just noticed that a lot of people (here and elsewhere) have been getting upset at other people because they feel they’re prioritizing the “wrong” aspect of this crisis.

The truth is though, in these sorts of situations, it’s good to have different people who are vocal about various concerns, be it for people’s health, economic health, social well-being, civil rights, or whatever. Makes it much less likely that you end up throwing the baby out with the bath water in one direction or the other.
Yep

IF football is played this year a lot of teams will be out of shape. I wonder how serious the team is about getting stronger and faster. Fitz picked a bad time to leave the S&C position sadly

It’s probably the best time for him to leave. No team can be around their strength coach so there’s no losing any ground. This spring is all about self motivation.

Hey everybody I’m here to ask for a prayer or thought or whatever you can muster at this point. My wife’s grandfather had a fall a couple nights ago. He broke four ribs, and punctured a lung. To make matters worse, he has been struggling with COPD for some time now. All that combined with what appears to be an extended stay in the hospital, things could be better. We are praying for a Passover of sorts. Thanks in advance friends.

no matter how long?

eh. i mean there's a limit to everything. right now we're both working, and if that doesn't change, we're good to go. and i don't see my wife losing her job. she's in home health, and they're basically moving most out patient treatment to home health right now, so she's busier than normal. i'm stable, and i've got my fingers crossed it stays that way, but if the worst were to happen, we do have a plan for that, and we've made it a point to save.....we'd probably be "good" for about 6 months before we had to get really creative, and maybe make some difficult choices financially.

why? i know you guys are in a tough spot, and you've had a rough go of it with your family lately...the only thing i have on the horizon close to that is my mom, she's got dimentia/Alz as well, and it's only a matter of time before we have to make some really difficult decisions for her, and my dad really.....so the "when" that comes to fruition will play a big part of the hand we'd have to play....but who knows when that day hits...could be tomorrow, or 2 years from now...

if you're asking in regards to my willingness to stick this out, i mean, i can't deny that situationally, being able absorb a hit and still keep running relatively close to normal, it makes it easier to take that stance. but it still comes with it's own set of obstacles to overcome....i would imagine financially, that's a large obstacle for you guys....hency your urgency to get back to a functioning economy....i think everyone agrees that'd be ideal....

my concern would be if we kicked it back in gear for the sake of kicking it back in gear, not because we could sustain it w/no further interruptions from this virus.......past that, yeah, we need to get back to "normal" as soon as possible.....

i think if we had to shut down a 2nd time this year, it'd have a bigger negative impact that this go around, no matter how long it lasts....i understand that is not a one size fits all perspective....and you likely disagree, for probably obvious reasons relative to your situation.....and i get that....it sucks. and i know there's a lot of people that need to get back up and running so they can get back to work...no money, or very little money, coming in is adding more stress to an already stressful time.....there's not a lot of good choices here.....i think no matter what we do, there's going to be an unfortunate fallout.

Arresting a pastor for opening the church doors IS tangible. Prior to that, i would have agreed with you. When I will worry is if it is deemed ok by the courts. Then I'll truly worry but I hope it's not.

Imagine your position if it happens again but you dont agree with the measures. There is precedent at that point.
The internment/imprisonment of Japanese American citizens in WW2 is universally condemned now, but at the time it was considered good common sense..

Has anyone built a garden/garden box on a slope? I have a relatively small neighborhood yard and the only reasonable spot for one is on a slope towards a shallow drainage area.

Odds everything is opened back up by June 15ish?

I'm going with 80% chance. We will peak mid-month, curve will start to flatten by the end of the month, testing and treatments will improve and become faster and more widespread in May, and the floodgates of normalcy will open in June.
Supposed to be at the beach June 13th for vacation. Have about 4 weeks left to cancel and get my money back. I really hope stuff is returning to normal by June but leaning towards canceling my condo.

i just think it's a gigantic leap to go from "covid19 preventative measures"....to....."well, here we go.....we're coming out of this with a facist dictatorship".
That is ridiculous..nobody said that, and you know it...We HAVE said that a State of Fear is how totalitarian states usually get their start, or gain momentum.
