Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Oh yeah. They arent worth spending LG amounts of time on it.

I have too many other things going on to follow along on tweets, or how many scoops of ice cream, etc. Just like any other "star" if people stopped talking about them I wouldnt know what they were doing.

I also see it as the reason they see him as the worst. It seems like their lives revolve around Trump. Only two ways that goes you end up loving him or hating him beyond reason.

Taking a step, or twelve, back allows me to maintain some objectiveness. I take pride in getting called both commie leftist scum and Trump humper. Neither is true, but it means the two sides with their collective heads shoved up Trumps butt cant figure me out.
I think you are Trump humping commie leftist scum.

From Wikipedia: Martial law is the imposition of direct military control of normal civilian functions by a government, especially in response to a temporary emergency such as invasion or major disaster, or in an occupied territory.

Martial law must involve the military to be martial.
I guess I was hung up on the government suspending the normal rule of law. What's that called?

Maybe they did, I don't know. I was told $600 federal plus the state $275. Even if it's equal, I suspect some would rather stay home to make the same amount of $$.

From what I can find on the interweb they did not fix it. Regardless of what you were making you can get $600 on top of whatever the state pays.

Better keep those printing presses humming.

I think most have said their peace that he shouldn't have talked about the drug. He shouldn't have downplayed the spread of the virus either.

I wouldn't know what most have said and don't really care because it holds no relevance to things that matter regarding the drug. If it works the DRs will use it. If it doesn't they won't. Trumps opinion publically or privately is not going to change that.

You could make that argument along with other missteps. There are plenty of those with a situation like this. Its not the first time in history and wont be the last.

Of course he made a move to close down travel (specifically from the origin of the virus), he was labeled "hysterical" by Joe about 3 weeks ago. Had he not done that, its obvious what the response would have been.
It was political hackmanship at its best.

I'm not laying anyone off. There's work here if they want it.

Yeah, that was the only thing that wasn't clear to me. But at least 100 thousand dead 'if we do things almost perfectly." should be the sobering takeaway.
A 3.5% increase in deaths for a year (assuming no trade offs) is worth screwing the economy?
2.8 million die a year in the US.
Unemployment in the tens of millions, wage growth gone, hiring freezes, businesses gone.

And the impact goes far beyond the 30% who are unemployed, and Carrie's over to those who keep a job.

You don't have to lay them off. I'm sure most are clever enough to figure out how one of these applies to them.

The CARES Act expands unemployment eligibility to individuals who are able and available to work within the meaning of applicable state law but are unemployed, partially unemployed or unable or unavailable to work. To receive benefits, the individual must self-certify that:
  • the individual has been diagnosed with COVID–19 or is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 and seeking a medical diagnosis;
  • a member of the individual’s household has been diagnosed with COVID-19;
  • the individual is providing care for a family member or a member of the individual’s household who has been diagnosed with COVID-19;
  • a child or other person in the household for which the individual has primary caregiving responsibility is unable to attend school or another facility that is closed as a direct result of the COVID-19 public health emergency and such school or facility care is required for the individual to work;
  • the individual is unable to reach the place of employment because of a quarantine imposed as a direct result of the COVID-19 public health emergency;
  • the individual is unable to reach the place of employment because the individual has been advised by a health care provider to self-quarantine due to concerns related to COVID-19;
  • the individual was scheduled to commence employment and does not have a job or is unable to reach the job as a direct result of the COVID-19 public health emergency;
  • the individual has become the breadwinner or major supporter for a household because the head of the household has died as a direct result of COVID-19;
  • the individual has to quit his or her job as a direct result of COVID-19; or
  • the individual’s place of employment is closed as a direct result of the COVID-19 public health emergency.

The point was, I believe, that is the best case scenario, if we do things perfectly. The way I see it, we don't have the things we need to proceed responsibly, at present.

I realize that some believe we cold have a 10% mortality rate, and that would still be acceptable. I'm not sure what your number is, but until we can count on having the basic items required to be responsible, I'm fine with the extraordinary measures.

We adapt and evolve, and carry on, but I hope not prematurely.
