Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

My family laughs at the drug ads because the side effects for one of them are exactly the same as the symptoms of that particular illness. We’re all like well duh, why bother and how would you even know you’re having side effects.
They are still pushing in advertisement drugs that will drop your immune system. It's sad.

Sure, if it works then I guarantee you will care. Some of you will even say he was right, knew what he was talking about, and he did a good thing by mentioning the drug that he probably just heard of an hour before.
That was my take, he heard of a successful older well known drug during a briefing that might help and outted it.

And how many of those people you live around post in the PF of VN? I know of 2.

I have no idea how many are on VN . So from his post we know for a fact that 2 live in a place surrounded by people that don’t share their ideology and those two aren’t use to hear the echo of their ideas and beliefs. That’s means 2 aren’t shocked when they hear a different ideology. You need to get better at trying to cherry pick from posts .

I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone say they are more R than D .. I also would argue the Navy , isn’t the military arm you would find that true in .

The family members that I have living there have been staunch R's for as long as I've known them (in-laws). However, only the matriarch, who stays on social media, has much good to say about Trump.

WTF did you get that?

He should go through the chain of command. Again, I couldn't read the article because it's behind a paywall but you don't advertise that a deployed asset may be incapacitated.

I think that cat was let out of the bag last week.

I dont think that necessarily true. At least with how I was using it as more of a catch all "the government has suspended the rules" type of Martial Law.

With how much justifiable complaints about us locking too many people up in jail on a normal day this seems ridiculous. It's a state by state wide house arrest. Is there any precedence for this?

From Wikipedia: Martial law is the imposition of direct military control of normal civilian functions by a government, especially in response to a temporary emergency such as invasion or major disaster, or in an occupied territory.

Martial law must involve the military to be martial.

Otherwise bright, and some not-too-bright people, are using this financial times graph to make political points about the U.S. corona response in a time of crisis.

Of course if you look at per capita data for cases and deaths, which is the only thing that matters, the USA is not going to be anywhere close to the top of any graph. Europe will be the hardest hit because of an older population that is very densely gathered.

Also, the growth rate for the U.S. is simply inflated by our unique testing lag. I'm no Trump supporter, and he deserves some of the blame for the testing lag (as do Democrats). Ironically, that testing lag caused us to have a more severe reaction to the virus than if we had perfect surveillance because it seemed as though we were fighting an unseen enemy, and that will probably save lives in the long run.

No matter where you are on the political spectrum, now is a good time to build your BS detector when it comes to statistical comparisons presented to underpin predetermined conclusions.

There are only a few people who would be excluded from the drug on a previous condition. It's a fairly safe drug. It can't be mixed with antipsychotics and certain heart meds. Xanax is out.

So it sounds like, with a few exceptions, it can be safely administered widely. I'd love to see numbers on how successful it is. The big benefit seems to be how quickly it can speed recovery, which is great for freeing up needed hospital beds

LOL.

I had an inquiry from a Dutch company yesterday, looking to remove a few ppm of O2 from a small H2 stream.

They gave me the temperature as 278K. Had to think for a second... let’s see, zero centigrade is 273K if memory serves...
I have thrown out this fact to experienced engineers before and asking for a quick answer and have seem them go 9/5 x +32 (or whatever it is) in their head. lol
Funny thing. Heatless regenerative dryer provide a -40 PDP. Kind of an arbitrary number, but was said that an engineer in Europe decades ago was working a project in US and needed to specify a dew point, so he picked -40 as it was easily convertible. Not sure if true but was told to me in factory training decades ago.

He shouldn't be penning an open letter. He should be working his chain-of-command. It goes against national security.

I guess he isn't doing as he "should". Or maybe he is fully aware of the consequences and is sounding the alarm. They are docked in Guam, and the reason they are there has been public for some time.

I guess this may have already been debated yesterday, but....

It's been "Fauci is an alarmist" vs" Birx not citing worst case numbers to create panic"...

So, now that Birx suggests our best case scenario may be 100 - 200 thousand deaths, is she losing credibility, or is this the new accepted reality?

maybe there is some ambiguity in her comments?

Dr. Deborah Birx predicts up to 200,000 deaths ‘if we do things almost perfectly’

I watched the interview. Didn’t seem ambiguous to me.

I do wonder if they are thinking over the next year+. As in, 80,000 die by August then it fires back up in the fall?
