2020 Presidential Race

Ouch: Enthusiasm For Joe Biden ‘Lowest On Record For A Democratic Presidential Candidate’

Former Vice President Joe Biden has a slight lead over President Donald Trump in the latest Washington Post/ABC presidential tracking poll, but that doesn’t mean the news is all good for Biden: the poll found that fewer than 35% of Democrats are “enthusiastic” about casting a ballot for the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee.

“The poll surveyed national support among registered voters, given the option of a head-to-head choice between Trump and Biden. It found that while the former vice president had a 7-point lead in February, that has since winnowed to 2 points, putting Trump and Biden at essentially a statistical tie among registered voters,” the Washington Examiner reported Sunday.

Of course, national polls give very little insight into a presidential election, which relies heavily on state-by-state results, but the ABC/WaPo poll does provide some insight into Democratic voter enthusiasm — and it’s bad news for Biden. While 53% of expected Republican voters feel “very enthusiastic” about Trump, only 32% of Democrats feel “enthusiastic” about the former Veep.

Only 24% of Democrats are “very enthusiastic” or “strongly enthusiastic,” leaving Biden with a severe dearth of principled support, a key element for a successful presidential bid. According to ABC News, it may actually be a significant hurdle: it’s “the lowest on record for a Democratic presidential candidate in 20 years of ABC/Post polls.”

Enthusiasm for Joe is so low that even he is not enthused.

Union Probe Finds Close Biden Ally Misappropriated Millions

$6 million unaccounted for at firefighters union

One of Joe Biden's closest labor allies inappropriately siphoned nearly $1 million from a union pension fund as the labor group suffered from a "systemic misrepresentation in financial reporting," according to an internal probe obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.

Harold Schaitberger, the president of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), which represents more than 300,000 firefighters, is facing accusations of corruption and gross financial malpractice from his closest deputies. Edward Kelly, the general secretary-treasurer and the number two of the union, detailed the findings of his team's audit in a March 20 internal memorandum. According to the 105-page document, the audit has thus far found that Schaitberger and Thomas Miller—Kelly's predecessor as the general secretary-treasurer—illegally earned millions of dollars from the union pension fund over the last two decades.

Schaitberger, who is one of Joe Biden's closest and oldest allies in the labor movement, directed the IAFF to endorse the former vice president during his first campaign rally back in April 2019, making his group the first national union to endorse Biden. The IAFF has donated $5,000 to Biden's campaign in 2019 and spent nearly $75,000 in outside spending to support his candidacy, according to Labor Department records.

Ex-Obama Campaign Mgr: Lack of Breitbarts on Left Puts Biden at Disadvantage

Former President Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign manager this week said former Vice President Joe Biden will be disadvantaged in the 2020 election against President Donald Trump because the left lacks outlets like Breitbart News to help Biden “fight the social media wars.”

According to a Yahoo report, David Plouffe—who helped Obama use Facebook as an online organizing tool to run circles around Hillary Clinton in the primaries and the late John McCain in the general—told “Skulduggery” podcast hosts Michael Isikoff and Daniel Klaidman on that the 2020 campaign is going to “be a challenge” for Biden because “Trump gets this, and his campaign gets this: It’s blunt force communication.”

“Everyone’s got their role to fight the social media wars, which we have to do because we don’t have Fox and Sinclair and Breitbart and all of these online publications that seem to pop up every day that the right uses in a coordinated way,” Plouffe reportedly added. “I really hope that any day we’re going to all get emails from the Biden campaign, ‘Hey, we need you to write postcards.’”

Sunday’s ABC News/Washington Post poll found that Biden indeed faces a huge enthusiasm gap against Trump.

Poll: Biden leads Trump by 10 points as economic pessimism grows

Former Vice President Joe Biden leads President Trump by 10 points nationally in a new poll, bolstered by an advantage with independents.

The poll also shows pessimism about the economy growing, a factor that could help Biden and hurt Trump in the poll.

The latest Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll finds Biden getting 55 percent support, versus 45 percent for Trump. Biden has 96 percent support from Democrats, while Trump has 89 percent support from Republicans. Independents break for Biden by a 54 to 46 percent margin.

Another biased poll:rolleyes:

I really hope you are right, but what about all of these lefty polls that say Biden is leading? Surely they are all correct, or why else would they post them? <------ sarcasm
There was a Fox News poll out the other day that had Biden with a 9 point lead over Trump.
They don't really matter right now anyways. It is too far out and who knows how covid-19 will play out. Plus state polls are more important/accurate for Presidential races anyways. Look at 2016 for a good example.

Andrew Cuomo: I Am Not Running for President—This Is No Time for Politics

“I am not going to rise to the debate of a political challenge,” Cuomo said. “I am not running for president. I was never running for president. I said from day one I wasn’t running for president.”

A new poll shows that 87 percent of New Yorkers now approve of Cuomo’s job performance, up from 44 percent in February, prompting political chatter about his skyrocketing popularity possibly turning into a political run.

The New York governor reacted to Trump’s comment on Fox and Friends Monday morning that Cuomo would be a better presidential candidate for Democrats than former Vice President Joe Biden.

“I wouldn’t mind running against Andrew. I’ve known Andrew for a long time,” Trump said. “I wouldn’t mind that, but I’ll be honest. I think he’d be a better candidate than Sleepy Joe.”

Cuomo said he thought that the president’s remark was a compliment.

“I thank the president because I take his comment as a compliment,” he said.
