It's hard to believe this site is free. @FreakMan, VN is a true resource. Where else can you find such brilliant luminaries with a firmer grasp of the “real” situation than the world’s leading Healthcare Officials, Politicians, & Businessmen combined.
This virus has been a good thing at least in one respect. It has exposed the reason why we need to bring manufacturing back to this country and also why we need to be producing our drugs here and not in China.Different leadership. Different regulations. Different workforce.
This is when not having a substantial number of machinists and tool and die makers in this country begins to reveal itself.
I still can’t get my head around our reaction vs the actual numbers. Everybody that should know seems unanimously onboard, but....
Death rate isn’t the only factor. Ease of transmission (aerosol transmission is possible) and incubation period are things that likely make this virus much more dangerous than a flu outbreak. No vaccine, no proven treatment, and no herd immunity are also things that factor into what differentiates this from more “normal” infections.
Blah blah blah. The world death total from months of this pass the equivalent of a week's worth of US only, heart disease deaths.
To be concerned about the reaction to all this is completely fair.
Isn't this the case say in NYC right now? The courts are closed and a national emergency is in effect. It is debatably constitutional to suspend, but I aint liking it.
Article 1, Section 9 of the US Constitution states, "The privilege of the writ of habeas corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in cases of rebellion or invasion the public safety may require it."
No way this is more significant than 9/11 to me as an American. That was a foreign entity choosing to attack us as opposed to a natural phenomenon that cannot be controlled. Worldwide this certainly has more impact but you said national so I say 9/11 was more significant. I know this isn’t over yet but to me much of this is an overreaction but nobody felt that way following 9/11.
It really makes no sense.... during the H1N1 outbreak.... 57,000,000 Americans or 1 in 6 were sickened over a 9 month period....almost 27-29,000 were hospitalized per month and over 10,000 died in America...... the response wasn’t anywhere close to this.I still can’t get my head around our reaction vs the actual numbers. Everybody that should know seems unanimously onboard, but....
