Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

HAHAHAHAHAHA- Good one!!! We've gone from DEATHS to CASES!!!! Remember, there will be SHI*LOADS of "CASES", as more and more testing is done, but much to the disgust of the slurpers, aka dems, the death rate will drop and drop quickly. I do give you credit-you have tried to change the number of dead-to the number of cases!!!! FUUUNNNEEEE, WOW, The facts are, if any of the slurpers, aka dems, predicting what was going to happen (months ago) were correct we'd have 5,000 dead by now. No, I'm sorry, the gerbiling dem slurpers-have far too much meth in their brains.
Well spoken nonsense.

The World Health Organization has officially declared that we are in the midst of a global pandemic. Only the Federal Government can provide the necessary coordination to address a pandemic of this national size and scope caused by a pathogen introduced into our country. It is the preeminent responsibility of the Federal Government to take action to stem a nationwide pandemic that has its origins abroad, which implicates its authority to regulate matters related to interstate matters and foreign commerce and to conduct the foreign relations of the United States.

Contain? 24k corona cases vs 31 million flu cases a year....and 99% are mild.....99.93% of the country doesn't have the virus over 30 states have less than 100 total cases...u guys gotta stop believing the media's BS
I think you misunderstand me. I simply mean there is nothing much that can be done at this point to change whatever happens. If action needed to be taken it was 2 months ago when there was no chance of that happening. The only thing the media reported on was impeachment. There was no chance of this getting any attention. I believe had Trump actually shown concern about the virus' potential impact back in Jan, the media would have simply brushed it off as "attempting to distract people from impeachment proceedings" and continued on with impeachment coverage.

If the virus' spread is as bad as it's being played out, 2 weeks of staying at home isn't a fix. It sounds like there isn't much that will help until a vaccine is in place and that sounds like it's 12-18 months away at the soonest.

My belief hasn't changed much. Either we find some medium/acceptance of risk of infection to maintain a functioning economy, or we enter a depression that will probably have a worse outcome. If that's even avoidable any more. People acted surprised when it was reported there was 2 million new unemployment filings this week. That's just the start if everything stays shut down. It's like nobody is giving any thought to the economic repercussions of what's happening and what will happen if it continues.

Georgia Dem Sets Up Coronavirus Town Hall Using Her Tennessee Phone Number

A Georgia Democrat, who has been accused of carpetbagging, used a Tennessee phone number to alert constituents of a coronavirus tele-townhall, according to a voicemail shared with the Washington Free Beacon.

Rep. Lucy McBath (D., Ga.) left a voicemail to constituents of her suburban Atlanta district announcing the townhall Thursday, though she used a phone number with an eastern Tennessee area code. McBath voted in Tennessee as recently as 2016, and her husband was a permanent resident of the state during her 2018 bid to oust former Republican congresswoman Karen Handel.

Despite her husband's residence, McBath for nearly two decades claimed a homestead exemption in suburban Atlanta, which allows permanent residents to decrease their property tax liabilities. McBath was ordered to pay back-taxes after a 2019 audit found she did not qualify for the exemption from 2015 through 2018, meaning she was not a resident of Georgia when she was elected to Congress.

McBath's 2018 candidate financial disclosure listed two vehicles registered in Blount County, Tenn., where her husband lived at the time. Though the area code used in McBath's voicemail to constituents—area code 423—does not fall in Blount County, it did until 1999, when state officials decided to split the county from the code's section. Property records indicate McBath's husband lived in the county at the time of the change.

In addition, McBath's husband owned a home in Chattanooga, Tenn., which does use area code 423, as recently as 2017. A relative of McBath currently lives in the home, according to property records.

Why have so many coronavirus patients died in Italy?

...
Of the 47,000 people confirmed coronavirus patients in Italy, 4,032 so far have died - with a record increase of 627 in the last 24 hours.
By contrast China has almost twice as many cases, 81,250, but 3,253 fatalities.
In very crude terms, this means that around eight per cent of confirmed coronavirus patients have died in Italy, compared to four per cent in China. By this measure Germany, which has so far identified 13,000 cases and 42 deaths, has a fatality rate of just 0.3 per cent.
So why the disparity?
According to Prof Walter Ricciardi, scientific adviser to Italy’s minister of health, the country’s mortality rate is far higher due to demographics - the nation has the second oldest population worldwide - and the manner in which hospitals record deaths.
...
“The age of our patients in hospitals is substantially older - the median is 67, while in China it was 46,” Prof Ricciardi says. “So essentially the age distribution of our patients is squeezed to an older age and this is substantial in increasing the lethality.”
...
“The way in which we code deaths in our country is very generous in the sense that all the people who die in hospitals with the coronavirus are deemed to be dying of the coronavirus.
...
“On re-evaluation by the National Institute of Health, only 12 per cent of death certificates have shown a direct causality from coronavirus, while 88 per cent of patients who have died have at least one pre-morbidity - many had two or three,” he says.
