Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

This is a great explanation as to how pandemics work and why the measures are being taken. We'll see what happens here in the next few weeks. I still don't believe they have a firm handle on how this thing operates or if they do they are not sharing it. Can you be a lifetime carrier and not show symptoms but be infectious? Can you really ever be cured of it or is going to keep flaring up over your whole life? Science is the only way out of this thing, IMO. Some kind of major breakthrough in how we treat viruses.

Leave it a global pandemic/economic crisis to lead to our agreeing for the first time in ten ****ing years.

Well, not sure about y’all, but I’m at least having a good chuckle at all the “democratic socialist” kids, as they complain about sold out stores and movement lockdowns, getting an enlightening crash course in the realities of what transpires in socialist/communist countries.

This statement is laughable.

You realize POTUS is bailing out industries with government money (farming for a while now plus he wants to bail out airlines and cruise industry) and give government handouts in the form $1k to people, right?

Seems like we have a touch of that big, bad socialism in the WH already, amigo.

Panic buying is not the same as a permanent lack of consumer goods.

It’s a really good eye opener to a worst case scenario that most youngsters have no freaking clue about. Maybe, hopefully, a few of them will start question their belief that socialism means being more social to people..🤦‍♀️

If people only knew some of the things that go on , they would be EXTREMELY selective in where they go to seek medical attention , who they allow to attend them and ask a ton of questions . ( not just to the Dr. attending you ) .
Yep. There's a reason Drs and Nurses don't go to Drs as patients.

The scale of and the lack of measurable units of the X,Y axis make this a non starter for me.

Not sure if this has been posted.

Mitigation is the winning strategy versus suppression. All of the independent stores, bars and restaurants (major national/international players are a different story altogether) that have elected to shutter their doors without a panicked mayor/governor forcing their hand seem to be “well-intentioned” but are just helping to fan the flames and displaying a laughable lack of even mediocre business acumen.

Do you really think the entire economy will shut down? That's insane! Some people will still have to work no matter what happens. E-commerce is going strong. Plus, it appears the government will try to do stop-gap money distribution.
To your last line. That proves the economy gone to crap.

It doesnt take the entire economy. It doesnt even take 50%. The recession peaked at what 10%? And I have heard it's currently worse than a 10% hit. Hotels, airlines, restaurants, bars, venues etc. Make up far more than that. Add in local governments shutting down and the domino impact on the economy there.

To save 2%, maybe, you are risking 10 to 20%. The math makes no sense what so ever.

Love it. So according to you, the government opinion is always the correct one.

Nope. Unless this is all really a ploy and power grab by the government (in which case I will 100% eat crow) then we've no reason to doubt the CDC. Their track record isn't as horrendous as other Gov orgs.
