Of the 100 deaths in the U.S. right now, most were elderly and the youngest was in his 50’s. Diabetes and heart problems were the largest aggravating factors.

The economy will survive but it is not more important than human life. You and every other person who opposes the shut-downs conveniently forgets that non at-risk people can be carriers and infect at-risk folks.
What happens when people cant feed themselves after the economy shut down? Die a lot quicker from starvation than pretty much any disease.

Your lives first approach puts more lives at risk than this disease does.

I'm not totally up on Italy but they have not handled it well. My understanding is that the outbreak (like the more deadly one in China) occurred in a densely populated area which made the spread exponential.

They also have a single payer/socialized system. That frequently means a shortage of resources and poor quality of care.

Just a glance at wikipedia's daily update seems to suggest countries with high population densities or having cities with high population densities are doing on the whole much worse.
The news outlets keep telling us that Italy has more Dr.'s and hospital beds per capita than the U.S., and as you pointed out, socialized medicine. Isn't helping them very much.

Do you really think the entire economy will shut down? That's insane! Some people will still have to work no matter what happens. E-commerce is going strong. Plus, it appears the government will try to do stop-gap money distribution.

Easily. Medical mistakes are the third leading cause of death.

If people only knew some of the things that go on , they would be EXTREMELY selective in where they go to seek medical attention , who they allow to attend them and ask a ton of questions . ( not just to the Dr. attending you ) .

Because you said this started from panic. I argued the panic was from a SoE announcement absolutely riddled with miscues.

I see. So all these business leaders who hate him and think he is never correct, just jumped and agreed with him that it is a SoE. Sounds like panic.

This is a great explanation as to how pandemics work and why the measures are being taken. We'll see what happens here in the next few weeks. I still don't believe they have a firm handle on how this thing operates or if they do they are not sharing it. Can you be a lifetime carrier and not show symptoms but be infectious? Can you really ever be cured of it or is going to keep flaring up over your whole life? Science is the only way out of this thing, IMO. Some kind of major breakthrough in how we treat viruses.

Where do you think .gov gets money?

No the entire economy won't shut down but it doesn't have to for there to be mass unemployment and hardship. The entire economy didn't shut down during the great depression yet we've all heard the stories.
