Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

The economy will survive but it is not more important than human life. You and every other person who opposes the shut-downs conveniently forgets that non at-risk people can be carriers and infect at-risk folks.

He's not ignoring that. He's stated several times that at risk people and their care givers should quarantine.

Had her bladder removed last year, and they didn't remove the sling when the took the bladder. It grew into her insides, causing bad infections constantly.

Holy ****.

My wife almost died because of a colarectal surgery mishap, but it was just that her body started leaking internally. It wasn't something left inside her. You hear about this all the time, how does it still happen?

It is. Everyone has a limit. When someone gives you a report with millions dead, your stomach tightens up. No matter who you are.

And why are we on him now? I dont care about the politics. People need to see numbers that give them confidence to get back to life.

Because the panic ensued after he declared a SoE with no outlined solutions.

People die because of economic downturns, too. Especially in poorer countries. I got people that I know in the Philippines hitting me up for handouts because times are so desperate.

At risk folks are going to get it anyway. I don’t like it, and neither does anybody else. Quarantining their caregivers along with them will have the same effect with what we are doing now. No?

I’ll ask you, what is your solution, just do what we are doing now indefinitely?

Even if health officials and government officials 'man up,' do you really think people are going to go back out and spend money?

**** has already hit the fan.
Dang the torpedoes full speed ahead?

Come on man. A little freaking foresight. This is the worst of both worlds. Economy still going to tank, these measures wont save it. And we get to add billions of debt to a government that cant afford it. And oh yeah this virus is still freaking everywhere. Plus some scary freaking new government
Oversight programs to guarantee they can do this whenever they want.

Where was the win in this to defend it?

Government should, always, stay out of the way and let things happen. They NEVER fix it, and usually make it worse. Plus the added benefit of making the issues political ensuring we dont get real solutions.

Are we going to freak out everytime some one comes down with something new? We shut down the economy for less than 2%. I have seen no logical reason to shut it down. Old people are always the worst at risk. There is never going to be testing for new diseases. There are always going to be mild cases that hide the spread.

You looked at the current rates. These are also rates that only reflect those who have been tested.

CDC estimates are where I got mine.
True. I asked Rifle about that very thing yesterday. Test kits are unavailable so it is difficult to accurate assess infection rates.

However, going on the data provided which show the documented cases, the numbers are far better so far than CDC estimates. This virus will never go away completely. It will continue as a seasonal illness much like cold and flu.

This is literally childish.

I agree. I don't think we're bouncing back from this for quite some time. I think the next 21-30 days are enough to flatten the curve and then we need a more surgical, less blanketed plan after that. One that injects the 30-50 workforce with something to do instead of collecting dust.

There wont be enough govt to fix this nonsense.

I think a hard isolation for 3-4 weeks is the way to go, and I wouldn't be surprised if your model was implemented afterwards.

I agree with what we are doing now, for a few weeks. If it is the long term model then we really are screwed and gripped by irrational fear.

When has he *ever* caved before and why would he start now? Especially when caving would result in the economic struggle we're going to see.

He only has to take responsibility when it's something red hats like.

Maybe he shouldn't have put Pence in charge if this is the result...maybe that was a mistake he can own? Doubtful.

Yes and no. I think we take it two weeks at a time and then re-evaluate. We may not need much time to significantly quash the spread.

100%

In late April let's just use this as an excuse to tip our servers and bartenders fat (look out for a whole new level of service after this month) and not see our ornery parents/grandparents for a minute.

Perhaps a quarantine is not about stopping the virus and more about slowing the demand for hospital and medical services. A rush on that like we see at the grocery store would be severe and have ripple effects to others (like joe's wife today) not effected by the virus.

Means, "we're going to drag this out as long as we can hoping you will forget". Ya ain't getting ****.

Probably. Honestly, even though online classes are not as conducive to learning as attending class in person, I'm fine with paying the tuition as they are getting full credit for the classes. However, Room and Board should definitely be reimbursed.
