Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Here's something that doesn't jive with me. See if any of you can sort it out. Two "facts" I've read on this virus:

1) Nobody has any natural immunity to it

2) Some people, like Kevin Durant, show no symptoms

If Durant continues to not show symptoms (next 14 days) then doesn't he have immunity to it? Or is it guaranteed that he'll develop symptoms in the next 14 days?

Dang the torpedoes full speed ahead?

Come on man. A little freaking foresight. This is the worst of both worlds. Economy still going to tank, these measures wont save it. And we get to add billions of debt to a government that cant afford it. And oh yeah this virus is still freaking everywhere. Plus some scary freaking new government
Oversight programs to guarantee they can do this whenever they want.

Where was the win in this to defend it?

Government should, always, stay out of the way and let things happen. They NEVER fix it, and usually make it worse. Plus the added benefit of making the issues political ensuring we dont get real solutions.

Are we going to freak out everytime some one comes down with something new? We shut down the economy for less than 2%. I have seen no logical reason to shut it down. Old people are always the worst at risk. There is never going to be testing for new diseases. There are always going to be mild cases that hide the spread.

Yep.

I’ll state it for all the big government types on here on both sides of the aisle.

The government doesn’t produce anything.

The only way you get something from the government is if they take it from somebody else. Overreach from the government is always bad. In every single case.

Again. My numbers suggest it is completely reasonable to go ahead with life.

In fact, they show we are being completely irrational currently.

Dude, we're never going to agree that you aren't using the right math. Read the CDC reports. Look at the heightened rates, and factor in that we aren't even scratching the surface on ample testing.

We went from 10/1 million 3 days ago to double that, and again, we are WAY behind on testing.

The panic started with the NBA move.

LOL, no it didn't. The panic started with the media. They pwned Trump on this. 4d chess.

It is funny that professional sports leagues are such a target of political demonization for red hatters. Might as well blame them for the earthquakes yesterday, too, I'm sure people can find a way.

McDaughter's college will be issuing refunds, reductions to tuition payments, and credits to offset no housing and no food. I was surprised to hear it.
Still waiting to hear what Rice and Georgetown might do for us, or to us. Knowing full well I will have to ask my wife if I really want to know.

People can "carry" or "host" viruses and bacteria but not get sick/show symptoms. For example, the amount of people carrying MRSA would cause a public panic.

If it was, then bravo. Took them long enough, but bravo. Vegas odds have Trump losing reelection for the first time since 2017.

Wait hold up, I almost forgot that everything is going to ****.

Well, not sure about y’all, but I’m at least having a good chuckle at all the “democratic socialist” kids, as they complain about sold out stores and movement lockdowns, getting an enlightening crash course in the realities of what transpires in socialist/communist countries.
Telling them that's what life under their hero Bernie would be like?

Can't be an easy decision. They have to pay out professors, support staff, they've purchased food (or signed contracts to purchase food). I suspect all those expenses are ongoing even when no students are on campus. Tough spot to bge in.

I cant help your math comprehension.

Testing will only drive mortality rates down. Not raise them.

Wrong. This is what transpires in a mixed economy nation facing a pandemic.

I'd guess it would be due to the incubation period, although not sure those who "recover" still test positive. I'm sure this has been addressed somewhere on here.

People should never spend another dollar on the NBA.

As someone in the industry, I will tell you 100% that I didn't see the dip until Trump's announcement. No one cares about the NBA except for me and Huff.

Search my posts with volfanhill and see for yourself. One day we were talking about single digit dips in sales, then after last Thursday it blew the **** up.

Got bad news for you, Dyna. We are a democratic socialist country. We just don't want to admit it.

Good point. To be honest I hadn’t even thought about it before seeing the posts about it this morning. Not to mention the scramble to be able to continue with virtual classes.

Holy ****.

My wife almost died because of a colarectal surgery mishap, but it was just that her body started leaking internally. It wasn't something left inside her. You hear about this all the time, how does it still happen?
I know, and thankfully they found it. She's constantly been on antibiotics, even recently did a month straight of IV antibiotics. I'm just glad they found it, and got it out.
