Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I admittedly know very little about the process, but swine flu started in April 2009 and there was a vaccine for the public by September. That’s 5 months. Maybe because this isn’t an influenza variant it will take longer??

Long-lasting and effective immunity is the goal. That’s not always easy to create, especially with a novel virus.

Wait times . Do a quick google search and just start reading . When you are done do the same search for the U.S. .

Maybe to see a specialist. This is concerning emergency medicine and by all accounts Italian medicine is on par with, if not better, than any in the world according to the WHO.

Link ? If you have something other that the cold who are you going to see ? Maybe a specialist ? If you wait between 12-18 months to see one how could your health care possibly be on par with anyone else in the world ?

No it isnt. I've googled plenty. They barely rank middle of the pack amongst european nations.

When sites compare european nations to US healthcare, most dont even factor italy in. The compare Switzerland, Germany, France and places like that.

This is part of the problem..... Some folks can't recognize that other countries might just be as good as we are at something (healthcare). In this case unfounded American exceptionalism is gonna get people killed.

From what I read earlier, the mortality rates from the flu were horrible versus other european countries.

Your opinion is their system is equal or better than ours? They have a Mayo or John's Hopkins that people from all over the world run to? They have distribution capabilities for medicine and technology on par with us?

Their average life expectancy is fantastic.

I also know from personal experience that the organ transplant experts from Hopkins, Cleveland Clinic, University of Pennsylvania, etc. travel to Europe regularly to study their transplant outcomes and efficiency.

We have great healthcare professionals in the states, but we certainly don’t corner the market.

We aren’t talking about dermatology or endocrinology here. This is emergency medicine.
