I’m not an alarmist. Ive been trying to watch more of the world reaction than the US one to try and separate political discourse from the growing facts. If you think this isn’t “real,” then I encourage you to think of yourself as a Rudy Gobert. At this point, it matters very little what it might or might not do to you. It doesn’t matter if you, yourself, are 40 and healthy. Set your individual liberties aside for just a moment and do what’s right for the country as a whole. Don’t compare this to a war. There are no front lines, and no one is getting “sent” anywhere. You don’t get to choose for yourself to fight or not. And just because you can’t see this or be convinced by “the data” doesn’t make you more brave in the face of it. And it doesn’t make those who want to do all they can to mitigate the harm to others “cowards.” It’s uncomfortable. Deal with it. And when it’s all over we can do the after action review and hope to find a better response for next time.
