2020 Primaries

I'm saying that quote does nothing to express how he would feel about your support of the popular vote. He was part of the Constitutional Congress that decided on the EC to begin with.

Maybe not, but it does directly deal with the notions that we should always accept anything and everything put forth by the FF, which is something I see in this thread over and over again.

Every vote counts... unless it’s for President. Amirite?
We use the system that the delegates to the Constitutional Congress agreed upon. The system we've used since the Constitution was ratified.

For the umpteenth time, if you find it unfair, and you have all this support you claim to have, there is a method for amending the Constitution.

He’s talking to you, not me. He’s telling to to stop invoking the work they did 250 years ago and put in your own work. Yet, you cling to the notion that people who lived in the 18th century know what’s best for people in 2020, so we should just shut up and accept it.

That quote is for you, my friend.

He's telling us not to cling to their ideas if better ones come up. He's not telling us to throw out the Constitution for any old dumbass on a football forum that can't even form a cogent argument.

I’ve stated maybe 20 times that an amendment on this specific issue is impossible because the same states that would relinquish their disproportionate presidential voting power also hold disproportionate voting power in the Senate. Of course they don’t want to give up any of their undue power.

Every vote does count as to who that state wants to be President. Then it comes down to how many states you win and their electoral count. So claiming not every vote counts is disingenuous. It just doesn't count like you want it to.

Whatever we think of it now, it was one of the compromises that brought the states into agreement about a Constitution. It’s nothing more or less than that.

For those who refuse to learn from a book, the HBO Series "John Adams" does a decent job showing why compromises were necessary to get the states to unite ... how tedious the process and how tenuous the agreement.

Wait a sec...Are you one of those psychic mediums? Miss Cleo, is that you? Are you channeling Thomas Jefferson? No? Then don't claim to speak for a dead man. You have no idea whether he would agree with you or not so don't pretend that you do. But to borrow your schtick for a moment, you know what I think TJ would say to you? "We provided a way for you to amend the Constitution and these other bright young fellows have pointed that out several dozen times now."

So your saying the Constitution is working? Imagine that.

So if someone in NY city moves to Knoxville their vote is the same as where they left?

Just think there's a whole new argument available. It takes far fewer Tennesseans to elect a senator to the US Senate than it does Californians to elect theirs. Less populous states have a much more favorable senator to constituent ratio. We in TN are more equally represented in the senate than luther and OHvol (if he's in OH). How dare we let things like this happen.

All states. The larger states get a bigger voice, but they don't get the only voice.
Lol bigger voice, but not as big as they actually are. Go ahead big states, you matter a lot but not as much as your population dictates you should.

Looks like Old Bernie might pick up some wins tonight after all...North Dakota Dems Abroad... Washington and Idaho still close

Not tonight. I just got back on and didn't feel like going back through the thread.

I have to admit I was confused by Girth's last post in relation to his earlier ones, but then I'm usually playing catch up and maybe not reading that carefully.

She earned 3 million more votes, guess those votes just needed to be in a different longitude and latitude to count enough.

Trump went for the EC vote. Hiliary went for the popular vote. If she played the wrong strategy knowing that the EC count was the score that mattered, then why would you think she'd have been a good president. She knew the rules, went the wrong way, and lost. It's just that simple.
