Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Good luck and be safe, really. Like I said, concern is absolutely warranted.

However, I still haven’t seen anything from the cold hard worldwide numbers that is more alarming than any other outbreak we’ve seen in the last 20 years. If I’m wrong then the last laugh will be on me, but I’m not about to go stock up on toilet paper or whatever other ridiculous thing everybody is panic buying. I’m limiting my time in large crowds, washing my hands, and taking my vitamins. If I start to get sick anyway, then I will stay at home and treat this thing like I would the Flu.

If that’s a stupid narrative, then so be it. I still think after this is all over there is going to be a lot of people pissed off about how this was blown way out of proportion.

I hope that’s the worst thing that happens... but it’s not. People are actively dying, and not only the elderly. I can tell you that with 100% certainty.

Not from a place claiming 7% mortality rate.

It was prefaced with “based on the current numbers, which are likely not accurate due to the severe shortage of available testing for potential patients”.
what if I told you that there was a likely patient who was critically ill in a level 1 hospital that had been ruled out for all other illnesses and needed to be tested immediately. There were no tests on hand despite making clear the need and this patient’s physicians had to beg the CDC for testing for two days who initially refused, until they finally got it. Turns out, the patient was positive and wasn’t isolated for two whole days solely due to the unavailability of testing. Now how many more were infected because of unpreparedness?

Would you believe that story? You should. It’s a narrative that’s playing out all over America right now.

It is irresponsible to state something like that and immediately makes you not credible.

Apparently those who purchase for large corporations expect continued shortages of cleaners and disinfectants. This is what we figured would happen, hopefully cooler heads prevail, it's not like the items people are hoarding make a real difference. Best to buy items that allow you to shelter in place and avoid the public if possible.

4,300 deaths out of 7.7 billion people.

Whew. Better go buy some toilet paper and bread.

Italy is getting hit “hard” right now and is experiencing 1.7% mortality across all cases, vast majority being elderly and those with other underlying conditions.

Yes, let’s go buy toilet paper and institute martial law. SMH.

The panic is causing more harm then this thing could even dream of right now. Even if we do nothing, stop all measures, and let this thing spread then what, the mortality triples or even quadruples, worst case? If you are under 50 the chances of dying would still less than the flu.

This is not personal anecdotes and what I saw last week at work or somebody a hundred miles away died today....these are the worldwide statistics. It’s closer to the truth than anything being reported on the news.

FYI even 1.7% mortality is 17x as deadly as seasonal flu

As of today. This is just age, not including aggravating factors of underlying existing conditions. There has yet to be a reported death, anywhere, of anyone younger than 10 years old.
